What size gas container do you guys carry with you?

Question for guys who use portable machines, not truck mounted:

I Used to have a 5 Gallon red portable container that I'd bring with me but I used to have to fill it up too often so I just bought a 6.6 Gallon container. I know its not that much more but it's still light enough to carry and has another 1.6 gallons to get me throguh another job or 2.

What size to you bring with you?
 
Why are people reading this post and not replying. I don't understand why people do that. It only takes 15 seconds to say 5 gallons, 6 gallons, 2 gallons 10 gallons or whatever you use!

We use five gallon plastic contianers for diesel and gas. One each. Both approved for fuel use.

We have a rule that everything gets refilled prior to going back in the enclosed trailer after a job.

When we arrive at the next job site the machines are ready to run.

Most of the eqipment has seven gallon fuel tanks.

I have a 2.5 gallon can we keep with us.......however I rarely need it since each of my washers have 11 gallon tanks.

You asked for those who don't have truck (or trailer, I assume) mounted equipment to reply...maybe most of those who only viewed (like me) have mounted equipment and thus don't need to carry around gas cans.

I keep a 5 gallon jug for a spare, as well as a 2 gallon can for those times when I think I have more gas than I really do...The machine has a 10 gallon tank, which will last me about 10 hours of washing. If I'm washing 7 hours/day, I have enough gas on the trailer to last two days, as well as the emergency backup can. I decided to do that after I had to finish rinsing a driveway down with the owner's hose because I ran out of gas about 1/2 way through rinsing.
 
I have 13 gallon tank for my gas and kerosene. I also carry an extra 5 gal and a 2.5 gal for gas and an extra 5 gal for kerosene.
 
When using my portable electric/kero fired hot water machine, I most likely have a 5 gallon can of kerosene, I would guess it depends on what and how large of job you would be working. My primary unit is a truck mounted Landa machine that has a about a five gallon gas and 10 gallon kero tank, I carry one extra 5 gallon can of gas and 2- 5 gallon extras of kerosene in a underbody box of the truck. I dont always have time to refuel between jobs and by having extra allows me to refuel when both the machine and truck needs diesel fuel.

With that much fuel on board do you have to have a DOT placard?
Our unit has 9 gallon diesel and gas tanks.We carry 1- 6gallon of gas,and 1 -6 gallon of diesel.They are carried in the truck bed.We purchased pump handles from Northern tool that have gas pump type nozzles,this help keep spills to a minimum,and reduce the chances of a fire.
 
Scott, I not sure... I have been stoped and i know i cant carry portable amount of fuel over 5 gallons. My tanks are double walled and dot approved.

I will check when i have time
 
I carry 2 2&1/2 gallon containers on board. If I need more I
have 2 6 gallon marine containers that are fitted with a supply
hose to the larger unit.
 
i run a 200gal diesel tank and a 15 gal gas tank so fuel is not a pain for me but the way fuel prices are going the pocket book get's light sometimes
