White Film on Vinyl siding

Hey guys hope u can help me out here.... I washed a house about two weeks ago and the home owner called me back saying there is white film on her vinyl siding.... I went out and took a look at it and it appears like the soap / chemical dried.... It was about 95 degrees when I washed it, but I know no chemical dried on it.... I always wash one side of a house at a time and rinse throughly.... I downstrean sh and soap mixture, let it dwell for a few minutes and then rinse off. I never let it dry..... So my question is do I wash it again with just water or wash it again with my sh / soap mixture.... Will it take it off..... Another thing is she had another guy come and look at it and he told her i Bleached out her siding..... There is no way I did that cause I downstream it and only about 1.5 percent of bleach is actually hitting the house...... And another thing is it only happened on one side of the house... the other three sides are fine..... Thx guys appreciate your input... Jim

My guess would be oxidation, and maybe you exposed it more when you cleaned the dirt from it. But that is just a guess. Does it look like dried on soap or not? You can use 12.5% on vinyl and not bleach it out, I know because I've done it on really nasty bug crap stains.

Ditto,,, It would take an awful lot to discolor vinyl sidding. My guess is that the side that your having a problem on is the side that faces north. Try re-doing with just dawn soap. (downstraming) and give her a real good rinse. Don't panic and tell the customer not to as well. You can fix it.:)

I would suggest using a good car wash soap that has wax in it,instead of the dawn.It will give it a little shine and recoat the vinyl somewhat.

I think this is probably the side that is exposed to the sun more than the others and has oxidized. The other guy that said you bleached the vinyl is a real winner. We all bleach the vinyl thats what cleans it.

Tell me about it...... Typicial construction guy looking to replace all of the vinyl siding..... The home owners are being really cool about it and I have explained to them what you'll have said..... I like the idea about the car wax soap..... Gonna give it a try..... How much car wash soap would you use in a bucket to downstream it? Thx guys appreciate all of the help..... Jim
