A fire in the exhaust stack of cooking equipment extended into the roof of Hopsing's restaurant Tuesday morning, the Fort Wayne Fire Department said Wednesday morning.
No one was in the restaurant at 7:13 a.m. when the call came in, according to a written statement from the fire department.
The roof and ceiling had heavy damage, while the rest of the building had moderate smoke and minor water damage, the department said.
It said the cause is under investigation and that it could not be immediately determined whether there was a working smoke detector.
