11 to 16hp?

I have a few 11 and 13 HP motors that I rarely use anymore because I need at least 16hp to put out the pressure and volume needed for 6gpm cold.

There are 16 HP kits that include the block and everything you need to convert these to 16hp for around $200.

Are these worth it?

My guess is Harbor Freight...,..

The biggest engine I see listed is 420 cc at HF. Correct me if I'm wrong but 1HP = 30cc so 420 cc would be 14 HP. I may need to call Derrell "Red" to make sure my math is correct. LOL

Ebay has them, type "gx390 upgrade kit". i don't know if i would trust those clones for everyday use...

You'd need to rejet the carb too.

I think it would be worth a couple of hundred for a working size spare for a quick change out in emergencies.

I think the upgrade kit is just the HFT 420cc parts. the bore is the same 90mm as the HFT and the pricing is about right for Chinese knock off parts.

That being said I've been running a Chonda on one of my machines for about 3 years. Can't say that it is any better or worse than a genuine Honda. Has the same problems but also starts and runs just like the real deal. At the price they sell the knockoffs, I decided to chance it. The only problem is I had to retrofit a upgraded charging system because my burners are 12v.
