Hey guys, just curious what everyone was charging per sq ft on roofs this year, any increases?

Thats cool eric. I tried that and i discovered i was losing money becuase i was charging 10 a gallon and most of the ranchers were only using 20-25 gallons. Now i am 100-150 more than those prices. But if its working for then keep on doing it.

I charge by the tile or shingle . I spend 2 days sometimes counting them and hope we get the job.

Length x Width x pitch. There is an app called Pitch Gage in the Android Market. It helps factor for pitch and cut of roof. Then multiply by price per square foot.

Shingle can range from .10 to .25 depending on region of US
Tile can range from .20 to .50 depending on region of US

In the North East they do 1500 square foot A Frames for $750 and in the South East a 2,500 square foot ranch will go for $300.

Florida has the lowest prices due to uncontrolled lowballing and faux associations that promote bad business practices and disinformation.

A couple competitors around here will clean the roof of a 2,500 s.f. house for $195. I lose half the jobs to these guys.

I don't think I have ever measured a roof. Just about all our estimating is done via google earth now, with the exception of very large homes. Those I still like to do in person. I can look at a roof and tell how much mix and applications it's gonna take, depending on how dirty it is. We don't spray to flood a roof, when we spray we spray to control run off. We usually always spray with 2gpm nozzles on our 5gpm pumps. The addition of the accumulator to the Dual Roof Pumps allow us to do this. This allows us to control run off much better, and use less solution.

Same here Doug. We also use the Property Appraisors site to get a good idea of square feet and auxiliary square feet (garage, front porch and rear screened in patios). If you don't add the auxiliary s.f. your just giving a quote for "under air" area. I have seen some axiliary s.f actually come up more then the under air s.f.

Is Larry in your area to?

Prices have have come down in the north east or should I say the competions prices are lower. Businesses With a few roof cleaning trucks are driving down prices to keep crews going along with every handy dandyman trying to clean the black gold.I saw this quite a bit last year. I talked to a few guys like myself who have been doing it for years before the gold rush and see the same thing.I expect it to go even lower . Caught a guy with all my photos on the web and on his advertising because a lady showed me the competitions liturature . I got the job ! I said that guy does great work and showed her the same photos. I also have seen many terrible roof cleaning jobs by certified roof cleaners. Some I know they priced to low and where taking to long to do an it showed with the final result. Some of my regular clients thought I was to high priced for the roof but I still do the washing of the house and wood care. They still ended paying what I would of charged in the beginning becaused they paid for me to fix the work. Roofs are not worth it if prices continue to decline up here in CT.

I charge by experience but in the 25 to 50 cents range and difficulty. So many difficult architectural
designs here.

I've never measured a roof. I'll try to find that app though! We charge between 500 and 750 most roofs. They get all the way cleaned, heck we wait for the roof to dry before we pack up!

Also we use a low GPM pump for less run off. takes longer, and waiting for the roof to dry takes time too.. NEVER had a call back!
