Aircraft Cleaning Pressure Washing Tucson

Yesterday was a change for me. I usually do flatwork at night. This time I was working in the sun cleaning aircraft parts. :crazy_pilot: It was nice to have natural light and warmth!

This was definately the dirtiest I have gotten so far while working (I know I didn't even come close to you hood dudes! LOL!). Lots of ribs on the fuselage pieces that created little box areas.

These are Truly Cool Photo's, could we do and NCE storie on this Mike
Definately! Pressure washing aircraft parts in Tucson in the winter was great. I love airplanes, and it was a nice sunny day, probably around 65 degrees. Let me know if this gets used. Thanks Ron.

Pictures look great Mike.

Did you use the aluminum brightener?

I love the DC-3 pic. I have an Airframe and Powerplant license. I did a story on the history of the DC-3 when I was in A&P school. Those are truly a historical aircraft. Lots of them still in use today. There are a few companies out there that are retrofitting them with turboprop engines. I wish I owned one.

Was this at Pima or Davis Monthan? Both of those airports have HUGE collections of historic planes. It kind of looks more like Pima, to me, but then, what do I know?

Danny, check out this video of a large dc-3 rc airplane. I fly rc airplanes (this one isn't mine, I wish!). The acual takeoff is around the 3:10 min. point of the video.

It was a private aircraft company with their own yards near DM. They had a high dollar customer, and wanted the aircraft parts cleaned for shipping.

Washing Airplanes is something I have never done.

Cleaning Aircraft I heard takes a special breed, I hear there is FAA regulations when cleaning Planes that actually Fly.

I'm not certain about this, the only member I recall ever cleaning planes is Lance Winslow.

Yeah, maybe someday I will get into airplane washing. It's not something you can just jump into. There are many things to learn and implement when cleaning aircraft that fly. Not to mention being inside airport boundaries. I would assume there are FAA Regulations also.

My Dad flew C-47's in WW II (the military version of the DC-3). I've tried over the past several years that I was able to get him to leave Chicago for the winter and winter in Scottsdale to take the trip down to Pima or Davis Monthan, but he can't handle that long of a car ride.

Pima Air & Space Museum would be fun for him.

I agree bro, he's enjoy all 3. But the reality is he is 96 years old, his entire left side is paralyzed, his right side of his body isn't much better, and he probably only has a few months to live (stage 3 prostate cancer).

Sorry to hear that Jim. Our prayers are with you.

Surviving to 96 and flying in WWII I'm sure he has no regrets. He must be as tough as the old C-47's. They even used those in Vietnam.

They don't make them like that anymore. Men or planes.

Thanks Mike & Rick. Yes, the old man is as tough as they get, and has the will of a team of horses. His doctors gave him less than a year to live 13 years ago, after the operation that went wrong. We all believe he's hung in this long just to spite the doctors.

This is a Great Post unique
Yeah, they say I will get more from them. They only clean the parts for high dollar customers. It was nice to do something different, and work in the daylight!
