algae in water

What can you put in your water tank to prevent green algae buildup on the bottom? I have a 425 gal clear tank and the algae stops up my outlet hose to the washer. Any ideas?? This is a great board. Very useful information. Thanks in advanced for any help...
 
I dont know if it is what you are suppose to do or not but I put a Chlorine tablet that I use in my swimming pool in my tank. I just throw it in it last a long time and keeps the tank clean I use to have the same problem as you but not anymore. :)
 
Just a cup of bleach will do the trick. If you want to get percise 3 drops of bleach per gallon will do it.
