Another guy with no knowledge...

Another Home Depot machine wanting to make $15 an hour... I guess some people are ok with that, and think it's good money (compared to the $8 they made at their regular job). I feel damage coming! Although I do give them credit for trying.

Thats funny. Ok maybe not but I was laughing because last weekend we were leaving a job, in which 2 different people walked up and asked us if we were hiring. Then being almost home there was someone selling peanuts in the median of the road. My employee was cracking up...he asked me if things have gotten that bad. So apparently they have...

I am paraphrasing this famous quote, so bear with me:

"Great minds talk about ideas.
Average minds talk about events.
Small minds talk about people."

Don't you guys have anything better to do?
Maybe next week you can follow your competitors around with a video camera.
I like a good joke every now and then, but it kinda gets old.

And how is this 'famous' quote germane to this thread, exactly ??

This very same so called, quote... was recently mentioned on the Mark Levin show on Monday by a caller who also used this 'famous quote' completely out of context...

The quote, your referring to is: "Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

I take the quote to mean we should worry/discuss less about other people and focus on doing or marketing ideas.
I think that is why he included it.

15.00 per hour now thats funny. Maids get 75.00. Wow weeeeeeee

AT, besides alot of research we do on this BB, alot of us get on it after completing a job to "wind down" before we go to bed. I came accross that Craigslist posting as I was looking at ads. I really don't care what anyone else does, it's just a good idea to know what is going on in your area. Lighten up. Why did you respond to this thread, "Don't you have anything better to do"?

For that $75.00 per hour, is that a maid working out of her car by herself or is that a service company coming with several people out to do the job, there is a big difference there.

That $75.00 is rather vague, it can mean one person or a crew.

just today a guy went in to underbid me at a jobsite while i was there. He came out with the GM. He said he could get it cleaner and be way less on the price.(bi-weekly) He said he sam me just wetting the crete and thats why he stopped to offer a professional cleaning. He had his HD PW in the bed of his ranger. I laughed and said you saw me what. then we went around back where he then saw my rig and told the GM thanks. I told the GM if he wanted to give him a shot let me know. He then laughed. he just wanted him to see how wrong he was. but times are getting tougher and people are looking for other ways to make money thats all.:smash:

I think alot of people looking to make some money think it's alot easier than it is to get into this biz.

I just don't know if I would want a guy named "StevO" to do my pressure washing. Hasn't anyone seen Jackass??

Chris, not sure about Toms post, but I will say that quite often we are able to get that $75/man hour with some of our cleaning accounts.

Generally though, we are at $35-45/man hour.

Get used to these guys coming out of the woodwork. Times are tough and look to get tougher next year.
I remember the 1st time I tried to strike out on my own, 30 years ago. I had always been paid hourly. I was so afraid to charge people what I should because I never had to before and I was shy about it. Well. I got over that eventually. Now I won't work for hourly pay. I won't go out there for less than $50 an hour net and learned that you are worth what you can get someone to pay you and worth even more if you have them happy to pay that much to you!
