another night in paradise...

Was working at a parking garage last night in a nicer part of the Valley. In the course of ten minutes, this is what I saw, an abandoned taxi, left running. I noticed it when I passed by two hours before and called the cab company on the second go around. 5 cops and a dog doing a drug bust, pulling into the garage, a bitch fight, that had tumbled out of a gay bar that is next to this garage, with 4 of the previous five cops and 4 or 5 additional cops there to break up the fight. A group make out of men, and two women that were enjoying each others company 50 feet around the corner from the cops.

I am just getting too old for that kind of crap.

More excitement than the old heart can handle?

I feel your pain Scott.
I caught a hooker doing her job in a dumpster with her client a few weeks ago.I've woke more than one homeless person who decided to sleep in a dumpster corral and even had a guy climb out of a fast food dumpster one time while I was cleaning. He was mad because I interrupted his dinner.
The world keeps getting stranger. The gene pool sure could use a good cleaning.

Hey guys I have seen this type of stuff for the last ten years...... Been involved in a few shootings, numerous fights, etc. Just recently responded to a domestic violance call with only the wife still on the scene. Husband came home while I was there, pulling out a gun shooting himself in the head... Oh by the way if you guys dont know I am a police officer full-time and pressure wash part-time...(feels like full-time also.) Only ten more years and I can retire!!!!!!! yeah!!!!

I will bet you a nickle I have been shot at more as a pressure washer than you have as a cop.

I am up to four times, and three more with just having a gun pulled.

Serious?? I'll assume you used your charm to get out of each situation?:D

Are you talking random shots in your general direction or are you talking about bruthas actually trying to slay you? That is pretty wild! Are you carrying now? How many return shots have you fired? Surely after the first situation you started carrying.

Good stories guys, I enjoyed them!

Lets see, the first was turning into a taco bell. It was next to a biker bar, and some knucklehead decided to hit one of the bikers girlfriends, and so they were handling matters. I just happened to be in the line of fire. I would not dream of pulling a gun on about 30 Hells angels. I am not that stupid. So technically, I was not shot at, but I was definitely in the line of fire. They fired through the cab of the truck I was in...I was on the floor of the truck when I saw the gun.
Then of course, there was the time I was in the circle K and it was strafed by an AK-47. I assumed my favorite position, on the floor.
The next time, some knucklehead was taking pot shots at me from an unknown direction, I just heard the shots and the bullets whistling over head. When they whistle, it is very close.
The fourth was similar, but in another section of town. We did not finish the job at either place when that happened. Company policy.

And, no, I don't carry. It would be too obvious that I had a gun, and I dont need to make myself a more prime target. I have talked my way out when a gun is pointed at me. So far, so good.

Why dont you carry a gun? I dont get it, everyone else is shooting at you and you dont feel the need for one?

One of my best friends is a disabled Fireman, got hurt fighting a fire.
He told me stories of going into Tampa Housing Projects to save a life, and being shot at
I have met many pressure wash guys in my years as a roof cleaner.
MOST are packing.
Don't blame them either, especially working at night in bad neighborhoods.

I carry all the time when Im out washing at night.....Stone Im not trying to compete here just telling my story, I have seen alot in my days.... Im a firm believer of when its your time to go, It your time to go.......thats all....

I have been flashed by some real nice looking girls coming from one on the bars in a center I cleaned does that count :D

I have had more problems out sweeping then washing, most stay away from the pressure gun but seem to love screwing with you in the sweeper.

Kel-tec 380 or 32. No one will ever know you have it in your pocket. Mine just looks like a knife clip on the outside of my pocket. I always carry at night and sometimes during the day if the situation calls for it. I don't know if your state offers a conceiled weapon permit but you can get one in a day at a gun show here.

sounds like my bad days years ago. guns to the head, taken guns from idiots as they try to point them at me. A few times ran for my life. Got in a knife fight in front of a chinese restuarant with 5 chinese guys swinging kitchen knives. Thought I was in a kung fu movie lol

Man I sure do like my life a lot better than the old days. Althou I did get busted on my birthday last year, because some idiot punk came up quick on my wife at a convience store as we were getting some snacks to go to our hotel room. I put a stop to that real quick, to bad a plain clothes cop was right there and didnt want to listen to anything. guess he was crumpy from a long night of drunks on the beach. man that was a bummer, thought I never would spend another night in a county jail. I guess you can never say never

Like I said the old days are over. Thats why I dont want to work the night work, I think i would just shoot someone and end up in jail for life

Be careful out there you guys

Life is Good
Jeff

This is my new one, Keltec .380. My wife bought it for my Bday last week. I carried a .45 in my back for a long time but this one is much better and alot lighter.

Whats the price range on your gun Ash?

Many of my contracts are with government entities at this time. They specify no weapons.
but, that being said, that is not what keeps me from carrying. Every time when I have been in this type of situation, it is something that I have walked up on, or was a victim of circumstance, and not the original target. I am not huge like a lot of you, anymore. I am 6 foot 200 lbs. Call me Joe Average. If I see no quick escape, I usually start talking to them, and ask them about their gun. Usually, I am trying to get them laughing, and usually succeed. The object for me is to keep them distracted so that they dont want to ventilate me. If there is a quick exit, I am very good about finding it if I need to.

If I was carrying, I think that would automatically escalate the situation and put them in a very defensive posture, to the point of not even allowing me to work my way out of the situation. If I am unarmed, unless they are very, very bad people, I can usually get them to take their guard down. It is a matter of having a cool head, not showing nervousness, and getting them to think that you are on their side. Heck, I have even held the door open for them as they were making a getaway.

I guess it is a differing philosophy on how to deal with the situation.

My only thought on what you've said Scott, is that if you took a more assertive stance you might get a thug off the street, or even possibly keep one from dying that night. But there is logic to what you've said.

Personally, I'd like to hear the jokes you tell them that keep them from shooting you, LOL:) Worst case, just keep moving---black guys are notoriously terrible shots.
