good afternoon,

I used 1 pound sodium percarbonate mixed with warm water in a 5 pail let set for fifteen minutes washed and sprayed 12 ounces oxalic in a fiver ley set ten min and rinsed. no high pressure. its still dark in some places but a heck of an approvement. imo the entire house came out good.

any tips on getting it cleaner???

the deck was not as good as i would have liked, but again quite an approvement.

thanks.

thank you sir,

i have typed in potash wood cleaner, potash uses, potash cleaner for wood, and countless other query on this site and another. i even went to sunbrite supply and queried their site I also googled, yahooed and wikipidea etc, as far as i can find it is a hood and vent cleaner, which i do have some of i have not found anything about using potasium hydroxide in wood, my hd 80 is sodium hydroxide. would that be what you are refering to? ok found it wikipidea says that they are like the same thing. thanks ill try some hd 80 next time. i will use it lite like 4 ounces to the gallon

Mix a spalsh of sh with some sodium hydoxide and it will clean two fold as eliminating mold and other pollutants on the surface of the wood then brighten up like you did.I am with the other post deck looks a ok to me.

Tough to tell from the picture but it looks clean. You may want to apply a stronger mix of the brightner and let it sit a little longer that should lighten the wood up.

Precarbs will darken the wood. If the wood was still to wet the acid mix will not penetrate deep enough to brighten. Your ox mix could be weak. Your pre carb could be weak also and not left on long enough. If you want to strengthen your mix add 8 to 16 oz of potash or sodium hydroxide to the pre carbs. This is a better mix than straight Noah or potash on untreated wood. when you introduce potash or Noah into your mix you increase the chance of furring. So get control of timing. Applying and taking off. Then there is bleach which I use. That house would brighten up with a bleaching and rinse

Thanks for the input.
I have to learn the PATIENCE part of this game. I am a "lets make it happen" type of guy by nature and thats not good when dwell time is critical.

thank you gentlemen.
