Anyone do Tyson trucks?

Went on a bid the other day for some decks and hit it off pretty good with the HO. Come to find out he's been with the company over 40 yrs and over the plant fleet. They do most of their road trucks but they contract out 20 day cabs done bi weekly @ plant sight = no reclaim and 12 cab / trailer feed trucks done every week that require reclaim due to being off sight. The company doing them comes in from about 2hrs away and he wants me to put in a bid. Doe's not require any two stepping or detailing he just wants them washed, nothing fancy. I've not done fleet washing but if I could get a local gig handed to me I'll throw in the hat. Anyone care to share basic pricing I would appreciate it. I'm thinking 20-25ish on the day cabs and 45ish on the feed trucks. PM me if you would rather if you care to share. Thanks in advance.

Your pricing sounds a bit on the high side but I think you can probably get it because of the limited competition. Can't imagine that someone would drive 2 hours to wash a fleet that size for much less for what you are proposing. If I were to bid it I think my pricing would be for like $15 -20 for day cabs and $25 - 30 on feed trucks, which are still good numbers.

Do you have a means to recover and dispose of your water?

This company also doe's the beer and soda trucks in the area apparently. I as well dont see how they are able to make the travel time work out as I don't think there are THAT many trucks to do around here but I might get surprized looking into it further...This area isn't that big. Reclaim...Not yet but would get it if I could make it work aka affordable to compete for the other local fleets....There is no since sending local money three countys away. I'll be in Charlotte tomorrow and I'll speak to Robert about my options. Thanks for the info...

Best we could get was $15 for day cabs monthly. We lost a few accounts because we wouldn't match the $9 someone else would do them for.

good conversation here, love hearing about other facets of our PROFESSION, yes this is a profession. Who would have ever thought we could make money spraying water?

Fleet washing is done here at very low rates.

At that kind of pricing gaurentee's only a matter of time before the guy starts not showing up during the playoff's and doing drive by splash and dash sooner than that. This guy told me one of the "locals" bid it at 50.00 ea,,now that would be sweet,,,LOL...Got to love them out of work painters,,good for laughs now and then...LOL

There is a company that travels about 175 miles (one way) to my area. They charge $28 for tandem sleepers & dry freight trailers combined.

They have been doing it for fortune 500 companies several years now!

I used to clean the delivery trucks at a Lowe's for $35 a piece.....then one of the employees told me they had shopped me and the guy told them $45 a piece.........managers changed and the delivery manager called me and asked if I would still do them......so to be fair in the game I bumped my price to match my competitor....so this last time I did them for $45 a piece...
I only do them every few months and they have changed managers AGAIN. so dont know if this gig will keep up.

Found out it is Flt Wsh doing them. Lowballed...Anyone have any idea what they lowball price at?

Just recently they went in on a similar job here at $6 for the tractor and $6 for the trailer. Customer had not used them before. Other customers that have won't switch because they know they can offer the same level of service.
I recommend you sell them based on the quality of service and stay away from the price war.

Great advice, even if you win on price your not going to be happy.

Sometimes you just loose an can't make the pencil pushers realize.

There is no "contract" at all there just doing them. I'm thinking absent a bid contract there is no expectation of price confidentiality,,,anyone else agree?

From what this guy is saying Fleet Wash is doing them within penny's of 10.00 a truck. I shot them at 15.00 and he said I was "still way off", and eluded to the sub 10.00 range. He actually wanted me (a local) to get the biz but I passed at that price...I hear Penski might re structure their pricing and get out of the low ball biz, if that happens I'd try again but if anyone hears anything let me know.
