do a search for "wands" there are several pics of the wands
people have made for spraying roofs

Just put a 45 degree bend on the end of a PVC pipe and a pvc ball valve at the end and your good to go.

Agreed. And if you use one of the good heavy duty gray valves (we get ours from McMaster Carr), you can operate it one handed. The box store PVC valves are too tight to open/close single handed.

I just use the ball valve with tips on that. The pvc pipe acts as a reservoir and drips SH onto things that you might not want it to drip on.

thanks guys. and thanks Doug got your email appreciate it, got it one my phone ill take it to lowes with me. prob just order a propylene trigger from bob as well. id like to have a shorter and longer like yourself.

Everyone has their favorite spray device. Some like a PVC wand, either long, short, or medium, and some of us merely use a ball valve.
I have never found any Gun that will last for very long w/o leaking or sticking, or both. The roof cleaning chemical is murder on the wrists and forearms when it leaks.
We use a ball valve from Lowes with 25 degree nozzles for most work, and a 0 degree to shoot with.
I agree, there are better ball valves that are easier to turn, but they just never seem to be handy when you break, so a Lowes ball valve is what we use, unless we are closer to Ace Hardware, or Home Depot when we break.

Lenier HT6000 straight thru gun with a ceramic kit. You can add wands tips ect and it is durable, we have one that has been used to spray heavy caustic for 4 years and has done nothing but work.

I Can see where Ceramic will have the chem resistance and the mechanical integrity to last for awhile. Could you please post a link to it Alexy ?

Wow, they have a lot of Guns!
A Gun is very useful when shooting a roof from a ladder. Here in Tampa, most roofs are walkable, so we simply open our ball valves, and go.
Did you see some of the other guns on that page ? The one you suggested looks like a real bargain! No problems with leaks, or sticking springs ?

As an example http://www.ultimatewasher.com/pressure-washer-trigger-guns.htm These are my fav. I use the brass one not the stainless one but it is a really good gun. It has a very easy trigger pull and it takes one finger to hold it there very easy on the hands. I used to get sore hands from the mv 880 type but the SM-352243 is the one im talking about. I also think a gun should be considered a safety device and should always be used. Ive also seen many ball valves come apart and i actually met a guy that was coming into the old hydraulic shop i used to work at and he needed a new ball valve cause his blew apart. I helped him out and sold him a stainless steel valve rated for 2000psi instead of 600psi brass one he already had fail. This was an air application with some vibration. So the 2000psi ss ball valve was more robust and had a higher pressure rating and even machined holes for mounting which most brass one dont.
This customer was very exited about the shop cause it had many things he could use and get a good deal on so we talked for about 30 minutes. For the whole experiance I could not seem to forget what I saw when he walked in, he had a huge purple mark and what looked to be a dent / missing chunk of forehead. So I finaly asked "sir I have to ask cause it looks painfull What happened to your head?"

He replied with " I was looking to see if there was any dirt in the end of my ball valve connected to my air tank. while i was bent over looking right into it the thing exploded and hit me in the head which I didnt know until I woke up." Then he said He went to the hospital then came here after looking in the phonebook for a place to get a new ball valve.

I know the ball valves are very different from brass to carbon steel and pressures of 160 and 3000 are very different but stuff happens. Also i bet you didnt know that the amount force exerted on that ball valve Which force meaning the dynamic power which is exported longitudinally through a hose, towards the ends is about 3580 pounds with 3000psi and 3/8 hose.
with 1/2 and 3000 psi its 4710 and 1/2 with 4000psi is 6280 pounds of force.

This is all you need. Very simple, very cheap and lasts all season.

I think that for roof cleaning where some of the guys use the air diaphragm pumps for chemical application, those pvc ball valves will work ok as most only use about 80 to 100psi in the air line operating the air diaphragm pump.

This pvc ball valve resists the chemical corrosion a lot where the brass, steel or even stainless steel will start to rust/corrode quickly and then give out.
