Asbestos Siding

Hi everyone! Could someone give me some advice on what type of chemical I should use to clean asbestos siding. Your prompt response are necessary because I need to start the job tomorrow. I started a little today and without chemical and just hot water, it took a long time. This is why I am trying to cut down on some of the time. Thank you all and I hope to hear from you soon.

What are you cleaning off? Assuming dirt/mildew, any housewash mix will do. Make sure it has bleach in it. I would not put too much pressure on the siding, as it tends to be rather brittle. Since you are wetting it, the asbestos fibers are not a problem.

I have done two asbestos sided houses and used standard house wash on both. Watch the pressure though. I had a problem with burning the paint off the one house. It was second row beach home with 10 year old paint..I blew some off and had to paint over it.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the reply

The asbestos siding that I am washing is not painted and is around 50 years old and never been washed before. Will some kind of acid work to cut the cleaning time. I used a bleach and a cleaner yesterday and it seems as if it didn't do much.

Thanks,

Keith

ron p

get some citra-clean from Steven Rowlett and add it to your house wash mix.
If you cant wait for shipping, i would try some SIMPLE GREEN.

Thanks everyone

I will try simple green. I used simple green on tile to clean it and it worked well. I had some soap scum also on the tile and it cut the soap scum right off. What is in simple green that seems to make this product work on various different applications? Is this the miracle cleaner.

Thanks,

Keith
