Boat Wash-down at the Marina

Good evening everyone,

So this weekend I do not have any jobs scheduled and I was thinking of heading down to the local marina to do some quick salt water wash-down on the boats coming out of the water. I figure the people might appreciate it knowing when they get home all they have to do is flush the motors compared to having to spray down the whole entire boat to remove the salt water contaminants. I was estimating $20 per boat should be reasonable.

What are your thought on pulling up to a boat ramp and offering this type of service? Do you think people will want this type of service? How long should you take to wash-down each boat? What would you recommend in doing the wash-downs if you have done this already.

Your thoughts and knowledge are greatly appreciated!

I can't see people paying to just rinse them off. They may pay to remove all the other stuff but you better be reclaiming if using chemicals especially right at the marina! :)

Personally boats are on my top 2 things that I hate washing so I may not be the best person to comment!

Be careful not to take the wax off of the gel coat and you may need to remind them that you are not removing oxidation... that is a whole other process. Boat detailing is an under served service in the detailing industry and the word will quickly spread that you are doing this. Clear it with the marina first, though. I do boat detailing and actually enjoy it (though it is hard work). After my first boat, word spread like wildfire.
