bought a craigslist special as a spare. question?

I bought a spare washer off of craigslist on the spur of the moment. It is a 13 HP w/cat pump. The problem is the pump is painted over and I can't see the model # or anything. The guy who sold it to me said it is a 4.5 GPM 3500 psi with gearbox. I am not sure but I think the unloader is flow actuated. There is no kick at all when I release the trigger. Is there a way to find out, because I really wanted to hook my two machines together to get 9.5 GPM. If it is a flow unloader, can I just get any pressure unloader and hook it up or does cat need a compatible one?

Have to use trap unloaders I think, with a check valve.

Tom is right. Trapped pressure unloaders, no easy start feature. If you'll take a few pics of what you've got and post them, I'll help you identify the components.

I was trying to attach from my phone but had to switch to computer, hope they are attached now. need more of the pump. I know this is an older machine.

It has a giant flow unloader on it. The cat pump is a little tricky because there are so many of that same shape. It will take a guy like Russ to figure it out.

That looks a lot like my pump. Cat 66dx. http://www.catpumps.com/products/pdfs/993320A_CAT_Pump_Catalog.pdf[/QUOTE
Actually it looks like the 45G1. Which is 4.5 GPM 3500 psi, gearbox. It just doesn't show it plumbed with an unloader. Hey Carlton, do you know what size the threads are on the cat unloader? All I want to know is what unloader can I buy for this thing so I can hook it up with my other machine.

I might be wrong but couldn't you plumb just about any 4-6 GPM unloader on it?

That's what I was assuming, but when I went looking for unloaders they had some that were specifically for certain models of cat pumps. I just don't want to order an unloader to find out it won't work.

Got everything ordered, tested my direct drive 4 gpm pump to make sure it has no problem feeding from a tank. works like a champ. I guess I'll be running 8.5 gpm in a week or two. I took my 5 gpm pump off and I am going to have it as a spare. Got everything except a tank. Cant wait!!! One question for Russ or anyone who knows. The top part of the cap on my cat pump is cracked, it is just the part that you turn. I can see the cap underneath is intact. Is this cap ventilated? because I accidently sprayed the washer while i was testing it, and later on I noticed that the pump oil had that butterscotch look, like there was water in it. Where can I get a replacement cap for it....Russ?
