I am bidding a building and trying to get the white stuff off the brick. I have tried everything I can think of which is muratic acid, white scum presoak followed by NMD 80, Effort-less, 1 Restore nothing seems to work 100% may lighten up a little but not take off. Does anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it. Thanks in advance.

Is that area on the picture getting hit with hard water stains from sprinklers or effervescence?

the second picture is lower on the building so its possible. the first pic is high on the building so there is no way it is but we tried the effortless witch is for effloresence and nothing worked

James,
We have an old Post Office in town with old red brick and similar situation.
What about trying oxalic acid? http://www.jtbaker.com/msds/englishhtml/o6044

have you tried it on the post office and had positive results?

I have not but heard from several people in the industry that it's the ticket. Of course do your own research. I spoke with two Chem Techs about it. I will order some anyway because we have a lot of mobile homes out here with yellow (iron) stains from irrigation sprinklers. Those bricks need to be sealed afterwards I was told or it will happen again. I guess the good side is they will call you back out for another cleaning if they do not want the bricks sealed.

PS It's important to me that you share your solution to the problem please let me know.

You covered a lot of good chems. I have had some really impressive results with klenztone.
