Briggs and Stratton 16hp V twin

I have a 3000psi 22ltr/min unit powered with a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard engine. My problem is that the valve cover with the oil filler in it is on the side of the engine facing the water tank. The result is that there is an inch of clearance between the two making it impossible to top up the oil if need be. My question is ? Can I transpose the valve covers from side to side without there being any problem with the inside of the castings interfering with valve rockers or such like? don't want to go and change them over and null and void the warranty. help on this matter greatly appreciated. Stuart.

..should be interchangeable mate !

..be sure to clean the gasket surfaces with alcohol or carb cleaner,
..so silicone seal will keep the gasket from leaking. ..ever.

Cheers !

They are not interchangeable if you have a fuel pump on the engine. That valve cover has a nipple to pulse the fuel pump.
