Burner doesn't work

Hi there

I have a PW electric motor and diesel burner that I bought used couple of years ago, haven't seen a lot of action to be honest, 5 or 6 times tops. Has been sitting in garage since then, and the burned worked back then.
Last weekend I decided to get some diesel and try out to see if it still works.
PW works just fine but the burner not.

I did purge (sp) the diesel recipient after the container(as you can see I'm not an equipment genius) , which is made of glass  , and it has a filter in it, put it back together to see if diesel was flowing correctly and it does.

Where do I need to keep looking ? coil maybe ?

This is the same machine, model 1104PE

Thanks in advance

The first thing that you need to do is see if there is spark at the ignitor. That is dangerous, if you do not know what you are doing, so, you might just want to have someone do it for you. What you could do is hook an electrical meter up and see if there is current flowing to the ignitor/transformer, on both sides. If there is no electricity, there will not be any fire. Then you can make sure you have a proper spray pattern from your fuel.

There are really too many possibilities, but the first I would check would be the ignitor/transformer ( that little boxy looking thing on the bottom with the red and white label in the pic.) to make sure it is working. Then you can back track, to see why, whether it is a pressure switch, a high limit switch, etc.

Of course, that is assuming that you have checked the stupid little things, like fuses, and such.

When My old machine sets up a while even when Iget diesel all the way to the pump sometimes I have to bleed the pump.. You can also check your transfomer by taking it off and carry it to an electric shop, they have a tool to test it.. What type of burner is on your machine Wayne or Beckett? If it is a wayne I would check the solonoid valve and the connectors also make sure the little copper tube is not stopped up , On my newer machine I went through my whole burner when it wasnt working , it turned out to be a faulty pressure switch on the machine so I replaced it with a flow switch.... Also make sure the contacts on the transformer are clean and at the right angle , remember ( as you probably already know ) Unplug it before you mess with the transformer.. that thing is like 10,000 volts and it hurts like a mother.. Good Luck..

Are you getting a mist of fuel out of the exhaust stack? If so, there's no or faulty spark.

Does that machine have a vacuum, flow, or pressure switch to activate the fuel solenoid? According to the spec sheet it also has a high limit switch (a brass piece on the coil outlet with a cord coming out of it and going to the junction box). If it's bad, the solenoid won't open either.

Or does it even have a solenoid? Some machines use a vac switch to start and stop the burner as a whole.

Could be the fuel pump is too weak to pressurize the fuel, even though it can pump it to the filter.

When you're ready to work on it again, feel free to call for any insights.
