Burner filter bowl is overflowing

Why would there be pressure in my filter bowl for my burner causing it to leak. Just recently started doing it. Sometimes its fine somtimes its not. What gives?

Filter bowl? Is it a Racor fuel / water seperator or a Klemm with the spring and sintered stone inside or a Hotsy style with a filter screen inside? Has it been changed recently? Perhaps the gasket is not seated correctly. Could also be a cracked bowl. There shouldn't be any pressure on a filter, only vacuum.

sorry its a hotsy 1260. I think maybee it is that there is no gasket between the bowl and the housing. But maybee not it has just started doing it. I have cleaned the screen.
This is a machine I purchased used and thought it odd that there was not a gasket between the bowl and housing but I can't remember if there was one on my old machine. Any way the bowl bowl fills to the top and I know thats not right so problem must be elsewhere. I know that it normaly fills to the bottom of the screen so somthing is wrong somewhere it the whole bowl is full to the top.

I would pull the special type off and go get a Fram from the Autoparts Store.
An Inline see-thru type. Like a G1

I tried those Fram inline automotive filters, they did not hold up for me. They always cracked in a short time. Always seemed to be at the worst time.

I switched to a General filter made for diesel and all the problems went away.

Get another style maybe the metal type from the Auto Parts store.
