Help.. I'm confused.
I just recently replaced my ts2021 and had no PSI so I changed the Unloader had a spare. I thought pump was bad at first because new pump gave me less pressure then one I took off. To verify it wasn't pump ran it without Unloader with open Gun. I had the Pressure, so I put unloader back on. I still had a problem.. no pressure maybe 500 PSI.. started pulling my hair at this point, anyway after a few hours of checking unloader over and over again, I figered it out, the holding tank has a pinched hose( a kink) going into the pump... Silly me.. Thinking at this point someone is toying with me.. :) So now I had Factory Pressure.. ready for my Job..To my dismay NO Heat!! Checked Spark, fuel, filter cleaned out coil (Compressor and Vac) Spark is good But no Fuel out of Burner Nozzle, Blew Nozzle with air No blockage...Still no Heat .. and no Fuel coming out of nozzle with switch on.. Took apart pump because of screen inside cleaned out. Anyway though at this nozzle, or vac switch bad,, Or Unloader.
So I had to do my Fleet wash without heat and lots of Bugs... What a pain..
I had no spare nozzles (Becket) of unloader or vac switch on hand...
But while on site I was trying heat again while my Helper was washing bug juices off noticed he closed the trigger on gun, putting unloader into bypass triggering burner to fire up... o I'm confused.. The Burner will only run in bypass with closed gun.. Help.. any Idea's??? switch or unloader or??

Sounds like a pressure switch..

Your machine has a vac switch? If you manually push the tab down, does the burner light? This is a slightly confusing situation. Can you get pics of the unloader setup, vac switch and inlet plumbing? Post them here so I can see what your situation is.

burner problem

Hey man i know how you feel i went through the same problem with my machine when i was rebuilding after i bought it. I had everthing but no fuel out of the jet and even though these are mechanical fuel pumps on these burners if the wiring is not right between the pressure switch, blower motor, ignitor, and the and the magnetic switch on the burner head it absoulutley will not pump fuel into the burner. and this cost me an hours labor with a mechanic to find out hope this helps.:D

I had one do this one time and the pressure switch was in the wrong location. All wires checked out but it worked backwards because the locked up pressure triggered the switch and the trigger released it.

Here is some pics

I took some pics of setup. I didn't change the wiring setup. Now I believe it is a vac switch but possibly a flow switch this is the same thing to me. Once the flow is there it triggers the demand with Thermostat setting.

Okay, you have a pressure switch mounted on your unloader. Take the 4 small philips screws out of the cover and remove it. There are 3 terminals and 3 wires inside. You want to look for the 1 wire sitting by itself on the top of the switch. Directly under that are 2 more wires. You want to be connected to the one on top and the one directly below it. These two wires are what is known as a normally open circuit, which means they are only closed (connected) when the switch is activated (under pressure). The top wire and the most bottom one are a normally closed circuit (connected when deactivated - no pressure). Check the wire colors thet are hooked up, and correct them if they're not right.

This might be dumb but if you blew air thru it or if had run out of diesel I have to bleed my burner pump before mine will light ...there should be a bleeder screw on the dsl pump. Turn burner on and open bleeder till it runs out good and then close the bleeder and BOOOOMMMM you got heat.... I tried rebuilding these dsl pumps and cant seem to make them work again so I always keep a couple of spares in the tool box.. They are about $50.00 ....

If this were mine I would swap the plug and the pressure switch around.

Burner problem solved but lots of black smoke from exhaust.

Thanks Guys for the responses, sorry for not responding right away. My Laptop died and all the information was on it including this site. I'm glad I got an email because it would have taken a while to get back to this site. It was the Unloader pressure switch. I checked the wires they were all okay, I ended up jumping 2 wires and the Burner fired up, the relay inside of Pressure switch had a brass contact the somehow came off, this small strip ran across the top of relay so when I jumped the 2 wires it started right away. I may switch the Unloader as recomended. I also changed Burner nozzle, filter and a Fuel line to burner fuel pump. I will be ordering another Unloader and pressure switch cause now it burns pretty black(smoke) getting a lot of fuel(Diesel to nozzle maybe too much fuel now, it was a 2.25 Nozzle replace with same Nozzle. I think that when I jumped these 2 wires together it has an effect of thermostat somehow. I had the thermostat set to the lowest setting and I didn`t see it cut out, the temp guage indicated 150 degree`s But did not run heat very long to see if it was going to keep climbing, I may change the thermostat as well. I did try the air/Mixture screw on Burner pump but it didn't have any effect, with the black smoke, also it could be the the air flow is restricted cause I vent this out the door with Furnace piping but maybe the flow is not large enough causing the rich black smoke. It never did this before (black smoke) before the TS2021 Pump change. But it probably had partially pluged nozzle and filter restricting the flow of Fuel to Burner

Black smoke means not enough air so open up the air band and adjust the fuel pressure down a little. If it burns your nose and eyes adjust both up and down untill it burns clean.

All fixed up

Hey guys I got it working. I fixed the Black smoke oppened air bands and and adjusted fuel pressure. Also themostat wire was shorting out getting real hot. The shaft from fan blower to pump is stripped so it kept comming off at Fuel pump nut given me a fuel on and off problem. The Pressure switch is jump currently till new one arrives. The stripped shaft from fan to pump was fixed with the clear hockey tape. Ha Ha. It works. I had a spare themostat. back up and running. Thanks for the Help :D

a little more detail please

what exactly do you mean by airbands because i think im having these same troulbles

Air band adjustment open for black smoke

Here is a picture adjust fuel screw only if when air bands completely open and still black smoke.
