Burner Trouble

Maybe someone can help.
I am getting a little smoke, but no hot water. Machine is still under warranty and I was sent a new igniter, but this did not fix them problem.

I am not a very good mechanic. any ideas?

thanks

I recently had the same problem. The fuel filter was clogged. Sounds like you are getting enough fuel to ignite but not enough to keep running. I would change the filter and see what happens. If that doesn't fix it then I would take it to someone that knows what they are doing if you are not mechanically inclined.

Alot of times it's just the eletrodes that get dirty and your not getting good spark to the fuel tip. Try takeing it out and spray it down with parts cleaner and put it back in.

Unscrew the fuel line where it goes into the fuel pump then remove the nut behind the fuel line, open the Igniter and pull out the whole assembly, which is your eletrodes and fuel tip assembly.

Ours was messed up like that before.

I cleaned it up like above and changed the nozzle size to a bigger one. HUGE difference.

Great info guys.

David, what was your original nozzle size , and what did you put in ?

Did you adjust the fuel pressure ? Or the air band

What size coil do you have and how much gpm from pump?

I wish that I remembered.

I might be able to find the old nozzle . It is pressure pro hot box. we run 8.5 gpm.
when we pop gum I have it T'd to two guns with 4 gpm tips. It gets so hot I cannot touch any of the valves.

david, I also have a 8.5 @ 3000-3200psi (I have not run full pressure yet, still breaking in engine)

Fuel pressure set at 140 psi and 3.5 B nozzle, that should translate to 3.8 gph of fuel in a 20" coil. I have never measured the temp at the end of 200ft of 1/2" hose, but I gotten burned a few times. I have reduced the flow with nozzle size reduction to obtain higher tepms, but i find that the punch of 5.5 gpm not to be as fast as 8.5 gpm at removing the gum. The 5.5 has so much steam that I often cannot see in close quaters. Possibly when the gum is cooked in the concrete, the extra heat does make it better , but for gum that is not buried in the concrete full blast is best for me.
