Bypass question

I recently switched my bypass from the pump back to my fill tank. Everything went smoothly but, when the trigger is pulled I am getting good pressure but there is still some water coming through the bypass hose. Is this normal? Also while using my surface cleaner it will not stay at full pressure. It sends the machine Back into bypass then starts back. Thanks for the help this site has helped my business tremendously.

Sounds like a K7 unloader. They are supposed to bypass 5% all the time. You'll need slightly larger tips for your surface cleaner to keep it from kicking out. I'm assuming you use a 5.5 nozzle, and have 2.5s in your surface cleaner. If they are 1/8" nozzles, I have 2.7s in stock to correct it. Otherwise, you'll need to use 3s and sacrifice a little pressure.

Thanks Russ. It seems with so many 5.5 or 5.6 gpm machines out there that a 2.75 size nozzle would be available for all the surface cleaners with a 2 nozzle spray bar.

It took me a day to figure out why my machine was losing pressure.one of my guys had grabbed a 4.5 gpm tip and used it on the 5.5 with the k7 it didnt hit me till I got home and thought about it. I was pissed but relieved at the same time. Lol

With all the nozzles I have bought over the years, I have only seen the full and half size nozzles like 6.5, 6, 5.5, 5, etc..... never seen a 2.75 or 2.3 or 2.8 or any other sizes other than the regular full and half sizes. I had called Steel Eagle years ago for some 3.25 nozzles to better fit my machine's pressure but they said nobody makes those sizes and to get the closest I could find which would be 2 of the number 3.0 nozzles for my surface cleaner.

I don't think it would really make that much of a difference if someone out there made the 3.25 nozzles, if they did they probably would cost a lot more.

You also have to remember about pressure loss via hose and length of hose which would make the specialized nozzles not worth it in the end more than likely. O Well.
