Calls coming in

Do people make it a point to not start making phone calls to get work done until february or is it just coincidence that I've gotten 3 calls today? lol
Stopped off for lunch and got another call, and she wants it done today!
I love money

Had a couple of roof estimates, graffiti , and confirmation on starting a cedar restoration project as the weather breaks last week .The graffiti job turned into quoting an ipe deck and the guy owes commercial property who knows the other guy I do work for in the same town of Westport Ct. This got the spring juices going a bit .

How long have you been in business?

Your cold weather probably moved out and its warmer outside. Cold weather stops my phone from ringing for the 2-3 week "winter" that we have in Florida. As soon as its back into the 70's, the phone rings.

Hopefully you charged her accordingly for same day service. I charge an extra $100 to $150 for same day service before 6 PM. Any calls for same day service after 6 PM though is a 4 hour minimum at $200 an hour for the job.

We came out pretty good.
Charged a little more due to same day service, but not as much bc we really wanted the job.
The client called some other ppl and I just happened to run into one of the guys I've worked with before so we bid together, got the job, and knocked it out.

I've been in business since 2012 Mike.
Seemed like about this time of year that it started picking up again last year as well

The longer you are in business, the less things like weather and season come into play. We have a huge data base of customers as well as a huge reach with other email lists, I have established the slower times and begin a very heavy marketing push before and during.

I definitely need to start collecting emails and work on an email campaign.
I have every single customers phone # written down so I'm wondering if I should call (or text to be less intrusive) just to keep me in their minds.

Random, but I've been wondering, why is this seasonal work?
I can understand up north but down here in Louisiana, it rarely gets below 45.
Hell, it was 73 degrees today and I was sweating.
Lawn crews, grass stops growing.
Pressure washing, mold doesn't just disappear during the winter.
Always found that puzzling

I do not really think it is a slowdown due to weather in my area, it has to do with a few other things, when identified, you can capitalize on them and avoid it.

Also, if it is a properly run business, a lawn crew never stops running.....ever. Again, some things change but cash flow remains constant.

So your lawn crews stay busy, that's great. What about your pressure washing crews? I think your market/area is similar to Fl. or am I wrong?
