Candy Jars = Good Marketing!

I dropped off a candyjar at two of our PMs. It looked like little kids on christmas day. The one said we'll get all their work if I keep the jar full. I started at two PMs that we already work with to remind them we are still working. I used a cheap plastic jar and taped my card to it. On afterthought I realize it might be little gaudy, but I want mine in the break room or the bosses desk, like ron said. Thanks Ron, I appreciate all the help you give to all of us.

You guys are very welcome..

New Jar

We went back to fill the jars and some of our cards had fallen off! So the moral of the story is... don't glue cards to the jar, get them engraved. We took back all the jars and found someone to engrave them.

I'm not even sharing the success.. of this....

The more I think about this idea and the info, It really is a great idea!

I need to find someone that will do the engraving.

I will look online to see if there is someone there that can do it if nobody locally will do it.

I wonder if there is a company that would give a big discount if a lot of us wanted some done and gave him a lot of work at one time?

What do you do when they throw your jar away? We had one PM company throw away the jar and they were adamant about being in a contract with a building maintenance company for power washing. We've seen terrible work at many of their properties, yet they say they're happy.

Should we bring em another jar?

Chris,

We found a local company that will do it and they gave us a brochure of products including glass jars that we could order in bulk instead of them doing the engravings.

The company is called Kaeser and Blair Incorporated. They will put your name on just about anything imaginable. You can even get your name put on the candies that go in the jar!

Hey Ron,

This is what I'm planning on doing with your idea.

I'm doing a trade show in March. I'll use a big candy jar for people to put in their biz cards to enter for a drawing for 20 BIG kind fancy jars filled with candy. I'll deliver if possible, or ship candy to the winners every month for a year.

For all of the other entrees that don't win, I'll send a small candy jar to them that will say thank you for entering, We hope you win at next years conference! from Commercial Restorations ect ect...

I think your missing the point, we are placing these with customers and possible customers. We visit and replace the jar personally every 15 days for a year.

Its truly personal selling, mailing the jars would not work and would be preceived as just a gift. This is about actually seeing them and talking with them every 15 days.

Its truly working like a champ. We are starting to sell directly from this idea.

the idea was not mine and i'm sure many people have used it. i just wish i had started years ago....

I posted this pix either in another thread or over on UAMCC....
I am getting the larger jar @ $10.00 and the smaller @ $9.00 (jar and engraving)plus shipping
$20.00 / per case of 24. The 2 you see are samples and will have to be lightened. My contact is Tim of Pooleyglass in Delaware. He's my brother in law's Father in law. I dunno if he'll give you my price, but maybe he will. Bargain with him his # 302 236 4383

Hey Ron,

I understand your point, I am planning on delivering them if they are local. Some of them will be from outside the area but own properties in my area.

I always try to meet with customers and prospective clients in person but it's not always possible the shipping was a way around that problem.

I will meet all of them in person when they enter and use the smaller jars as a way to remind them of us if it's not possible to drive out to them due to distance.
