Cat pump w/ low output

Have a newer Cat pump-model# 4SF40GS1.It only puts out approx. 70% pressure and I can't figure out why.It has a Honda 13 HP DD,and has been winterized every fall.It runs fine and sounds normal, but simply does not have the power to give me 4 gpm at 2500 psi even, and it's rated for 3200 psi @ 4 gpm.I did remove the unloader,so she's running straight through to a double tubed gun that is always opened, and I vary my pressure accordingly at the gun.

Any advice? How might I troubleshoot this myself B/4 I take it to a service center? Out of 5 DD machines I have, this ones the biggest dog,and is the newest, too. For being the mercedes of pumps and the $$$ I spent,I am disappointed. My very first machine I bought 6 years ago at Sams club w/ a rusty old AR pump will honestly kick this cats anus right now.

Thanks fellas,

Hmmmmm

Right away I am thinking it's an orifice issue. The first thing I would do is check to make sure that you are running a 4.5 tip.

If you are running it through a 4.5 tip then I would have to suspect the water seals.

Hope that helps

That doesn't tell me a whole lot,to be honest w/ you.Can I buy a rebuild kit do you know? Are these things easy to work on?What do you look for?I'm really hoping someone can give me specifics(step by step).Or,who might I contact.Devillbis is an absolute joke to get answers at.

One more thing I noticed today-it vibrates/pulsates more than normal.

Thanks!

you have a air leak. Double check all the hose fittings.
you are cativating the pump with air and will really hurt your pump.
It sure sounds like your getting air in your pump.

Mitch-

Give me a call at 1-800-336-7924
We are an authorized Devillbiss service center.
I will walk you through troubleshooting step by step and send you any parts you might need.

Seals are easy to replace. If your pulsation is not an air leak it could be a damaged valve (also very easy to replace).

I will be in the office most of the day.

Best of Luck

Russell

If you tell me more I can help you more.
Is the hose pulsating?
How old is the tip?
Does the wand leak constantly?
Has the machine sat for a while?
Is there a water screen in the inlet side of the pump?
Is the unloader the kind that just bolts up with two special screws?
Did you check the valves to see if they are stuck?
Is water leaking undre the head?
Is it a hot water washer or cold water washer?
