I'm thinking of joining the chamber of commerce. Is it wasted money or has anyone had good results at getting jobs or referrals by being a member. thanks! Ed
 
I have not used it to its potential, but if you go to the luncheons and meetings, you can meet alot of people.

I did get a $1400 deck job off an electrician I met there.

I mostly like to use it in marketing, I think telling customers you are a member sets you apart just a bit.
 
I am a member of my local Chamber and used to go to those meetings and luncheons, you will meet many people and depending on what your specialty is it can be a plus.

I do show on my letterhead I am a member.
 
I often thougtht of joining, But have not made the move yet...

How much does it cost and do you receive newsletters or monthly,quarterly letters...

Everyone says to join, Just like other local groups...

Does anyone do the other groups like Elks, Eagels, Kwanis, Rotary?

We are members of our local Chamber of Commerce and we also clean our Chamber's building and clean the windows quarterly. So for us it is a definite plus....but I also think it is good for a number of reasons. 1. You are supporting your Chamber who in turn is supporting the business community to make it stronger, 2. Many people and other Chamber members feel comfortable in working with a company that is also a Chamber member, shows that you are serious and not a fly-by-night, 3. Tax write off, 4. The monthly meetings can be fun and a great way to meet other business people, 5. Advertising in the Chamber directory. Our dues are $165.00 per year.
 
I pay $100 a year but the cost with my Chamber is based on number of employee's.

No it is not like joining the Elks, Eagles, Rotary or other orgs. Sure some are business minded but not like the local Chamber is.

I suggest visiting a couple meetings and luncheons first if you have any doubts.

I also clean my Chambers walkway but it is a freebie and only takes 10 minutes.

Some also belong to the local BBB, also there is the USA Chamber of Commerce also.

Anyone belong to that Org.?
