Charge for Bread Trucks

I am curious what those washing the bread and uniform style trucks are charging? We just put a bid in for Frito Lay here and the MIC told me they had another bid come in at $9 per truck. That seems insane to me! Our bid was $20 per truck!

They have 28 units that would be washed monthly.

Once a month that is a little cheap , I thank $12.50 to $15

With 2washers and a guy with a brush 2.5 hrs to do the 28 units.

$ 15.00 is a fair rate, especially for a once a month cleaning for bread trucks. One account that I do has 35 bobtails and I wash them for $15.00 each, but I wash them once a week.
I am running into alot of stiff bartering from companies because some are aware of the $8.00 dollar per unit price and one very extreme example is in San Jose, Ca. Fifty-eight garbage trucks at 9.00 each. I walk away shaking my head because theirs no rhyme or reason for that kind of agreement and the company knows it.

Well.. I walked away from the bid. Now I remember why I went strictly wood care... I never really cared for most of the pressure washing projects but there's no way you'll catch me working for those rates. Residential pays so much better.

Even the manager of the facility couldn't believe how cheap they bid it but because of that rate he said if I could come in close we could have it. Simply because we're 10 minutes away.

Thanks for the insight guys.

I lost a Uniform company which had 15 units to a company charging 3.00 per truck twice a month. That is the going fleet rate here. These units can be brushed with a two man crew in about 4 minutes each for your reference.

:)

I won't get out of my truck for $45.00. There's far better fish to fry. Most legitimate business's (including my own) need to gross a $1000.00 a day on average for a 2 man crew to be successful. I don't know how these guys make it?!?

At $3 a truck you would have to wash 334 trucks and at 4 min a truck it would take you 22 hours. Thats insane

Take Care,

Greg

your right

but i see it all the time.[fleetwash]
2 guys scrub on guy gives light rinse
15 trucks-1 hour,maybe 1 hr. 15 min.
they are in the $9 per truck range.
They build there own equipment and mfg there own soap.
[prob all made by another co,just labeled for fleetwash]

$15.00 is the price I have been charging for 7 years. Why would anyone want to work that hard for $3.00? Why would you want to charge less for a truck than the carwash would for a car? Put your quality above the rest and you want have to work for such low rates. I think most oy the people on this board can do better for themselves than that. In this busines you can LEAD, FOLLOW OR GET OUT OF THE WAY! It is your choice, not what the other guy will do.

if your at 9 at truck doing 15 trucks an hour your at $135 an hour if i could do $135 and hour conistantly with 2 guys iam happy.. am i missing something ?

Thats like the idiots around here who are doing flat work for .05 just to say there working?
