Cold Weather roof cleaning

I did a few in the forties this year. 50/50 bleach and heated up the water. Still took longer for it to work but got it done. The north side of the roof is colder and stays wet but I'm in New England.

We done them at 50 and worked ok just took alittle longer for the mix to work.

i did 27000 sq ft in 42-48 degree weather last month with a 30/70 mix and fresh wash from the powerwash store. It all came clean and it worked just a tad slower then what it does in the summer. You could go to 40/60 but i wouldnt go no further.

Lenny - we perform roof cleaning services year round a little north of you here in Northern VA. We take the frost off with the algae, and they turn out great as always. In this picture, the bottom left of the garage roof is covered in frost. (Obviously my crew doesn't walk on frosted roof for safety reasons.) Don't let a little cold weather slow you down.

How much longer did you have to let the snot dwell on the roof or do you not rinse it. I understand alot of people just leave it on and let Mother Nature do its thing. We have a large commercial roof job scheduled for next weekend. It's supposed to be 34 degrees

Does it take a lot longer to see results when it's this cold. There are some areas of lichen that I think I would have to get off immediately. I've never use the roof snot stuff. Just the apple sauce mix.

Tell me about it. I was cleaning the outsides of rolloff dumpsters at the airport this morning at 7am. We look like some real dumba**** having to melt the ice off to get to the grease and then remelt them after we put the degreaser on. But they insisted having it done today. What do you guys use to apply the roof snot?

I never seem to have much luck cleaning tile roofs in cold weather. 50's Ish. Doug Rucker did do one last week and cleaned up and the temps were in the 30's. Go figure! It may just be certain styles of roofing materials. I would not hesitate trying to clean a shingle roof though. They seem to clean up much easier.

I have never rinsed a roof....tile or shingle. Extended time of maybe 5-10 minutes.

ive cleaned in the 40's and had no problems, might take a little bit longer(or it could be all in our heads) but it still gets the job done
