Combining 2 Machines - suspect unloader problem

I got the parts to combine 2 machines together from Russ and with a little tinkering it was working great with a 5.5x 4000 and a 2.3x 3000 with a regular unloader on both. I have since "moved up" to a hot water hydrotek at 5 gpm 3000 and trying to combine the 2.3 3000 again. Problem is the smaller machine over powers the bigger machine. I suspect it is because the hot machine has a fancy unloader -

"Total Relief Unloader: Flow sensitive unloader allows pressure to build up gradually as trigger gun is activated eliminating “pressure spikes” and improving operator control and safety. When the gun is released, entire system pressure is relieved, enhancing the life of the system and eliminating engine starting problems associated with trapped pressure."

So the big machine never gets going because the small machine is pusching hard enough to engage the check valve and the big machine doesn't push hard at first. I was thinking of bringing in the small machine before the unloader...is this a bad idea? It would make the burner heat 7.3 gpm instead of 5....is that a problem? Once I get it all figured out I will get rid on the 2.3 gpm and move to a 4 or so.

here's the hydrotek - http://hydrotek.us/teksheet/SS-Series-Pressure-Washer/SS30005VH.pdf

Thanks for your help!

I had to have the unloader replaced on my hydrotek for it to work as well.

What unloader did you switch to and how well is it working? What if I put the same type of unloader on the smaller machine...might that work?

Thanks!

Siamese kits will not work with flow controlled unloaders or trapped pressure unloaders with the easy start feature.

I was always told that you are not able to join two or more pressure washers together unless they have the exact psi, because one will always out power the other. Russ is the man so please correct me if I'm wrong Russ.

Yes what Russ said, form the description the unloader you have is a flow unloader. Even if you install a check valve to prevent backflow you will still more thatnlikely have issues so you would need to change it over to a trapped pressure unloader to make it work correctly.
