Conference/Convention Advice

Hey guys

I'm leaving this kind of last minute, but I am attending a shopping center retail conference soon and was looking for any advice or tips from anyone who has been to these kind of things before.

My main reason for going is to network, and get names of senior representatives within the companies - hopefully get past the 'send us your information' stage!!

I am getting all my marketing material together to hand out - but to be honest I am more interested in conversation and swapping business cards, as I know they will be bombarded with this kind of material over the 3 days.

anyone have experience of being a vendor at a conference or attending a conference to network?

Would like to hear your thoughts, thanks!

the very one... and restaurant and lodging show.

Where is the show at? I looked into that also and thought it would be a good networking opportunity. Do you have to be a member first in order to attend?

... Posting this from the ICSC Florida Conference ...

I agree with greg, it geared towards service providers - however, I've made a couple of good connections and been part of some interesting conversations which have given me a good insight into the factors affecting the shopping center and commercial real estate industry.

I attended 2 informative seminars yesterday on Hot Retailers and Shifting Trends in the industry. I've got plenty of cards and property lists, so the work starts now!

Although not directly related to what we do, I would recommend attending similar events near you - make connections, showcase what you do and how it helps and get known!!!

(my rig is currently boxed in because I parked across 5/6 spaces... Parked near the entrance on all 3 days, so people will see me!!)
