Dam ...it

DOES ANYONE OUT THERE IN "WATERLAND" HAVE A RECOMMENDATION FOR A GOOD PORTABLE DAM, COMMERICAL OR HOME MADE . I AM REMOVING A LARGE PAINT SPILL ON THE STREET, AND I WANT TO CONTROL THE WATER AND PAINT TILL I SUCK IT UP AND BRING TO A DISPOSAL SITE. WHAT I HAVE USED IN THE PAST HAS BEEN OK FOR STOREFRONTS, HOWEVER I NEED SOMETHING BETTER. THIS JOB IS FOR A LOCAL CITY. DAN COSGROVE

Try this, Go to your friendly neighborhood home depot. Get about 20 feet of the 2 inch pool drain hose. Go to Office Max/ Staples. get two of those steel paper clips, you know the big ones that are about 1.5 inches across. Fold about 6 inches of the hose over, and fill it about half full with either water or sand. Tanke the other paper clip, fold the hose over two or three times so that it does not leak. Put on the clip, and voila, a portable dam. Just don't fill the dam so much that it is rigid. You want it to form to the ground.

You know Scott, if I had known that little trick about 4 years ago I probably could've saved myself about $15, 000 in equipment. :) Great tip!! Very inventive.
