Dirt on Vinyl

I got a farm house to wash at the end of a dirt driveway several miles long. The siding is at least 5ys old and never washed. Needless to say it is pretty dirty. I used a combo of bleach, sodium metasilicate based house wash, and some car wax. I upstreamed with cold water. Results were marginal. I brushed the cleaner on full strength and resulets were better, but still left brown stains.

Anybody have a brew out there for dirt on siding?

I would not recommend passing chemicals - especially bleach - through your pump...or did you mean DOWNstream?

Having said that, your solution should have worked just fine. Were you using well water? Do you have a hot water machine? If you do, and you ran bleach through it, it will flash-corrode your coils and cause brown (actually rust) stains. The solution for this is to downstream oxalic acid and rinse before it dries.

Just a few ideas, I hope they help.

I agree..John has helped me out quite a few times.

DLimonene was the key...applied with a brush and hot water.

Looks new again...all the "neighbors" and homeowners were amazed at my skills. Picked up a 2 more wash jobs at the site.
