I have a 3600PSI 4GPM and I am currently using 50' hose but I would like to start using 100' hose. I am will also be upgrading to a larger unit soon, something like 3500PSI@6GPM, I was wondering what length hose everyone else uses and if the pros of using a 100' hose out weight the cons.

The Pros:
* Less moving the machine around.
* Machine will stay cleaner and not get wet because it will be further away from what I'm Cleaning.
* Great for commercial jobs that are very large.

The Cons:
* Weighes twice as much and adds weight to what I lug around.
* Will take away anywhere from 25-50 PSI from output of water
* More expensive to replace than a 50' hose

I have seen a 100' hose go on ebay for about $100-$120 before. But don't see it on there now. If anyone knows of a good price around $100 for 100' hose please post.
Thank everyone

Hey Rocko,
You may want to give this a thought. If you do decide to go w/ 100', use 2- 50' hoses. That way if one craps out on you, you`ll still be able to do some work.

I use one hose. it is 300 feet long. it works great and will never use the 50 foot sections again. I have 5 of them sitting in the garage. if you use a reel, and you connect a few hoses together you will blow the hoses out quicker than having a single hose.

I have 2 reels in use that have 200' on one and 400' on the other all in 100' sections. That way if one section goes bad I can just replace it with another 100' section. I use to fix the hoses but to much of a headache. I just replace them at a $1 per foot.

Anyone know where I can get a 100' for around $100
and
What diameter hoses are you guys using 5/8" or thicker?

I am one of the crazy people that find using reels a pain. We use 50 foot hoses, use only what we need. My experience is that once I burst a hose, I only fix it if it appears to be in very good shape. Otherwise, it bursts again in another spot pretty quickly.
Hence we opt for shorter hose. I was suprised by the comment that several shorter hoses hooked together will not last as long as one long hose.

Ive been using Goodyear (Ultima) 4500psi 100' nonmarking blue. Hard exterior cover. I get about 1 years service befor I have to repair the ends. I buy from www.higherpowersupplies.com good prices and service and no exorbenient or hidden shipping cost. Can also get free shipping. Geeeze sounds like a commericial. Anyway the hose is good stuff and durable.

Bill, I have a friend that does the same as you. Everyone has their own way. By the way, do you do flat work?

The ends break on a hose reel, because of the angle that the hose is at when it is reeled up. It really puts a lot of stress on the hoses.
I use 100 foot sections, and have two on the reel, and one in the tool box. I usually only use 100 feet at a time, so I am covered.

I have my original 50' that came with my landa unit, then a 100', and then another 50' non marking. My hose reel has an angled outlet so there is no stress on the hose at the reel. The original 50' and the 100' I have had for 3 years and only had to replace the fitting on the 100'.

When you guys buy your new hoses do you get ones with connections already on them or do you put them on yourself?

I personally use 150' on a reel. One 100' section and 1 50' section coupled together. I keep a spare hundred footer in the truck and 2 more 50 footers all with qc connections so I can unhook or add a section quickly.

John T, Ive ordered from them also , but even on a big order , several hundred $$$ the S/H was high . I was given one price and then charged another higher price. When I went back to ask them about it, I was passed off and never given an answer. When I checked with UPS on the charges , they were high, thus hidden charges. One answer was , we get a special rate. All I could conclude was hidden handling charges, since no one would respond back with a answer. But I have found another vendor who is upfront and honest with good communication.
The last time I mentioned my dissatisfaction with this particular company in a public forum I got a personal email from the owner demanding I apologize. But I'm not the only one who has gotten poor service from them. Low prices are one thing , but low prices with high S/H isnt such a good deal.

I use two 100' sections, one on a reel and the other I keep in the back of the truck...with another backup 100' on a 2nd reel.

I use what I'm assuming to be goodyear 3-wire hose...it is yellow, and has held up quite well in the past year. Does anyone else use yellow hose? It came with my rig, bough used...and I have never checked with the original owner to see where he got it.

Extreme, yes we do flat work, though that is not my core business. I mentioned this to you on this or another BB a few weeks ago.

I hope no one let Ron M's comment about the angled fittings pass them by. I purchased some used hose on a reel a year or so ago, and the previous owner had done this - a very good idea.
