Don Phelps And Me !

Apple Roof Cleaning

Roof Cleaning Instructor
I finally got a chance to meet Don Phelps.
I have been talking with him about once a week.
My Girl and I drove over to Orlando, so I called Don.
He met us at a Orlando Restaurant.

Don and I LAUGH about our well known "battles" now.

Now, we exchange "war stories" only a fellow roof cleaner can understand.

Actually, meeting Don in person did not feel weird at all.
Him and I have been talking for months about once a week.
I felt we already knew each other pretty good.

My Girl Eileen and I went to Kissimmee on a spur of the moment type of thing.
Her step sister was there with her husband on a Golf Outing.
After we saw her step sister, I got the bright idea to call Don.
I left a message, and he called back in 15 minutes.
Actually, he called over to Tampa, but finally looked at the caller ID to call my cell phone.
He called, we met, and decided we needed a picture for the HISTORIC meeting.
Eileen took the picture with Don's camera.
The first picture did not work.
She snapped this one when I was not "ready", I blinked.

We showed each other our Trucks, our personal ones, both Fords.
Mine is a 2007 F 150 I JUST bought, a basic truck, auto/air and no frills.
Don has a leather F 250 loaded.

On the way back from Orlando at 4 am, I "seated the rings" in my new truck IF you know what I mean Russ ?

Do you KNOW what I mean to seat the rings ?

What was the recommended motor brake in period, 5000 miles? Were you anxious to break it in so you can tow with it?
I do not believe in babying a motor after 500 miles.
Mine had 600 miles on it, so i turned off the overdrive, and drove from 95 mph to 80 MPH for 45 miles with overdrive off.
I want my rings seated at all rpm ranges.
IF the motor is gonna fail, let it fail IN the warranty period, LOL

I do VERY little highway driving, mostly stop and go.
The drive over to Orlando from Tampa is not a regular drive.

Yes, I do have two boats, and will tow them.

But not for awhile until brake rotors and engine breaks in more.

Also plan on transmission oil cooler, a MUST IMHO for towing, and a good idea anyway.
