DOT procedures.

Anyone here have a DOT number on their vehicle(s)?

From what I have learned, Form MCS-150A requires a bunch of policy and procedures to be completed and adhered to when getting a DOT number.

I really do not feel like writing all this up. Someone, somewhere probably has it for sale. Anyone have any sources? I have tried ATA.

You should not need them. You are probably not hauling enough chemicals to be a concern, and you are probably not hauling stuff for hire.

Scott,

I do need them if I keep the same truck. New York ( and other states) law requires a DOT # if the CGVR is over 10,000#. Does not matter what you carry or for whom. And it's INTERstate and INTRAstste.

I was told, and have not checked it out, it is a result of the Patriot Act.

That is EXACTLY why I scaled down my operation, to avoid the new regulations imposed by DOT in recent years.
