Dual Gun Unloader on any Pump?

I have heard yes and no on the subject, I'm considering building a new rig over buying a new one to save a little money, and get the experience under my belt. My question is - is it ok to slap a dual gun unloader on any pump, or do I need to buy a compatible pump?

You can put a regulating unloader on any pump, although high volume is best. Dual gunning 3 or 4 gpm would be fruitless.
 
Good deal, my idea is to dual out a 8gpm pump. Please inform me of any problems I might run into when doing it this way, but I intend to dual it right out of the unloader - one outlet to an 8-10gpm hotbox, and one to run cold. So I could run 8gpm hot, or 4gpm hot and cold at the same time if needed. Also, I was thinking of putting a "T" on the outlet of the hot box so I could run 2 guns 4gpm hot. Of course I will have valves at all outlets. Any problems with that set up?
