The flatwork was Coined by the old folks years ago.

Today is the official day of change.

PWI will change the word Flatwork on this forum to Concrete.

We all clean different types of horizontal Surfaces.

The word Flatwork is used by no one.

The industry is moving forward.

Just like the words we are polluters we are the solution for pollution, not the cause of pollution.

If Grant could change this forum to reflect the word concrete in the description above I would be grateful.

Sounds like a great idea Ron!

Very professional!

Its just a pet peeve, the word means nothing to anyone. Its a dis-service to all of us who clean horizontal surfaces. Flat Cleaner... sounds like a brick layer.

Everyone in our industry understands what flatwork is? Besides flatwork describes a multitude of surfaces, concrete is only one type of surface. This is the lingo of this industry, just like knee wall , under canopy, love , and of course jizz...lol

Flat work is more generic to include the various pool deck surfaces, pavers, cultured stone, flagstone and various types of concrete. How about just get rid of the word "flatwork" and identify the surface by it's exact name or material. Or change "flat work" to "Flat Surface" or "flat-surface".

Gotta agree with the rest of the guys! Flatwork is self explanatory, why try and reinvent the wheel here. Pool decks here can be acrylic, pavered, tile.... Why refer to these surfaces as concrete?
Sure sounds like flatwork to me!

Okay Barry! Keep your change and i'll keep mine! lol

I just tell them I am an environmental enhancement technician.

What you get this idea from the PWNA or something:eek:k::slap: LOL When are you going to think for yourself:smash:

Flatwork love it or leave it alone on the BB's. Say "you did some concrete work today" could mean anything. Say "you did some flatwork today" narrows it down

No but it's the most retarded word to use. I clean flatwork, I'm a flatworker. I do flatwork.

Try this , I wash concrete surfaces for a living. I'm a sidewalk cleaner. I wash exterior horizontal surfaces along with single story vertical surfaces.

It's your choice , I'm not using it. Never did !!!

I believe the correct verbage would have been "it's the most mentally challenged word to use." If you're going to get all politically correct here with the flatwork thing, you might as well be PC in all you do. Just sayin.

Yeah I suppose your correct Allison. I'm sorry if I offended you. I'll change it when I'm not on my phone. Will use meaningless.
