Would you like to see an exhaust cleaner only BBS in the same format as this, with the same original rules as this board started with? (No advertising etc.)

GRANT, i VOTED NO, SINCE THERE IS ALOT OF BOARDS ALREADY. bUT OF COURSE i WOULD GO TO IT. Sorry was not yelling, Kids playing on computer.

Just like business, I would hate to see all that work go to waste and nobody used all that good info.

Matt

I agree with you about hating to see all this work wasted, but look at whats been happening here. 2 posts in three days. All the old heavy hitting posters have moved on to other boards, and not one board .. but several.
Maybe its time for a spin off board that caters only to exhaust cleaners and even AHJ's. Possibly advertising from industry only related products. not pw machines but chems, scrapers, spinners etc. We could call it the Grease Police or something like that!
There is a lot of talent being wasted, and what was once the best place to gather is dying to fast for anyone to save.

You build it, I'll advertise on it. You know they will come.

Rusty

Even though this board has been dead lately it is still the best and most informative.

The PWNA board is worse and has mostly "paperwork" type talk. Not to mention "Big Joe" out of Gurnee IL is moderating it....always wanting prople to "give me a call in my office".
No nuts and bolts from guys that actually do the work and know what they are talking about.

At least a lot of the guys on this board are actual "greasers".

Want me to post more photos???? I was feeling like it was getting redundant.

Chris, I think you missed the point. We dont need to compare the boards again. The question is would a specifically exhuast cleaning board be a better idea for those of us that are in that business. And if yes, with or without advertising that is specific to exhaust cleaners.

big joe wants to steel your business.

Board for greasers YES
advertising -shure-
Why not.

"The PWNA board is worse and has mostly "paperwork" type talk. Not to mention "Big Joe" out of Gurnee IL is moderating it....always wanting prople to "give me a call in my office"."

The bigger companies get control of the board and figure out who and what you are where your market is and how they can go about taking it.
Oh no- they wouldnt do that. Would they

Good criticism. You are right.

LOL Rusty cracks me up! I would love to see what would happen if an exhaust cleaners only board with advertising was built and Rusty was willing to pay for advertising. Would anyone turn down the money? Rusty's OK by me. Just don't train any more guys to work in LA !!

As far as another board is concerned, I don't think it would work. I probably don't know all of them but I count at least 5 boards already that exhaust cleaners can post on and nobody posts on them now. I can't imagine a board for just greasers would do any better.

See guys - "big joe" is lurking out there....

I say yes to a new board - but no "suits" allowed.

What the hell - lets have Rusty advertise as well!

No suits as moderators either (sorry grant). :(

Suits are for weddings and funerals! In my office its casual. And I still wear my greaser suit on jobs.

Sounds like a great idea. It could be an exclusive club where only the kitchen exhaust elite could come and gather serveral times per year. Your new organization could then offer certification to members only and discourage the smaller companies for fear of competetion.

Wait a minute, that has already been done.

Another organization (not PWNA) has done what is being discussed here, not with a BBS, but in general. If you may have noticed it was not successful thus they are trying new things.

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry being called a suit.

I visit two BB now and I am not sure that having a Hood Cleaning BB is the only way to go. But, if done well it will work. It has never been done as far as I know. Not sure what Doc is referring to.

Lots of new ideas that are related to exhaust service only could be used as subsections. For example-AHJ'S, NFPA, Fire, Tools, Chemicals, plastic, tape, waterwash and so on.

Why would a cleaner return to the other bb if he had available a exhaust service only site. I would bet that within a year it could control that aspect of the trade.

Looks like a suit to me :D

Like the saying goes, "If the shoe (suit) fits, wear it!"

My post on the thread above was #23.
To many variables to consider a base rate.

Lets see Greasers only board. Would that mean it would be closed to Restaurant owners and such who are looking for Hood cleaners.
The last thing you want in this business is a general consensus that a base rate should be involved.

"But I read on the Bulletin Board that a base rate was only $228". BOO HOO :D
Well what the other guy failed to inform you is that your system hasnt been cleaned correctly in 7 years.Your mesh filters are not up to code.
And you have 28 feet of horizontal duct that has never been cleaned correctly and you dont have any access panels.
Then when your almost done the cook comes out with the "Other filters"
and asks if you would mind cleaning them also.

At this point I usually say to whoever has the check book- Well if I order one cheeseburger and one steak I get one cheese burger and one steak.
You dont give out free bees just because your customers want more to eat
do you?
Then they get the picture more work = more$$$$$

I think David has a good idea here.
Maybe even put the web site on your business card so that people looking for a service could find someone in there area.Of course they would not have access to the main part of the greasers board.Just to who is in there back yard and what the NFPA code is.
Hell- most of the AHJ,s in these smaller towns still dont know what the code
is or even care.In some of the smaller towns outside the larger cities up here
they dont have a copy of the NFPA 96 2001 guide for commercial cooking apperatice.I've had these code guys tell me theres no such thing. They didnt know it exsisted until I put it in there hand. Seems some of the insurance companys are waking up and telling people to get them done more frequently.
Am I rambling on? I will stop now. :p

real cute Matt!

Union cement truck drivers make more money than most greasers and don't go home quite as dirty!

Chris did you drive a mixer? or was it Matt?
