First Roof Cleaning - Need advice

So a friend of mine is a contractor and called me up to ask if I would take a look at a house(which I haven't done yet) and give him a bid on a roof. Now I was hesitant about doing it right off the bat. The more the day has gone on, the more I have thought about looking at the job and figured it might open up the potential to do more jobs like it.

Here is the catch, my goal is in the long run, to be doing primarily commercial work with very little interest in residential other than courtesy jobs for the people who are keeping my contracts active.

My questions are this, what does getting the proper equipment for roof cleaning cost(as an estimate), what chemicals do people use, is it really worth my time if I am not particularly interested in the niche?

Any insight on this corner of the market would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look in the roof cleaning section, there is a lot of great info there on chemicals, equipment and also training.

There is more than enough info there to teach you quite a bit on the subject.

+ 1000,,, Tons of information.

Great info here Nick as well as at The Soft Wash Community. Keep it simple at first. Tractor Supply sells a simple 35 gallon tank with a 12 volt sprayer that will get you through your first few roofs. Here is the link to the Soft Wash, One Batch Mix Ratios.

Hope this helps.
