First Roof Tomorrow

We are doing our first roof tomorrow. The house is pretty small and the roof isn't too dirty, just some streaks on the front. For a mix I was thinking about going with 45 gal h2o, 12 gal 12.5sh, 48oz roof snot and some lemon aid inside a 65 gal tank. I know the mix might be a little light on sh so I am bringing a extra 4gal of 12.5 in case i'm not getting the results I want. I'll post before and after pictures tomorrow.

I'm going to be scheduling my first one soon as well.
Sounds about the same deal. Two sections of roof, I'm guessing about 4/12 pitch. Not horribly stained.
I'm wondering about how much total liquid I can expect to use.

Dan,

We've been doing a ton of work up your way. Three in Waymart(Elk Lake), Four in South Canaan(Lake Quinn) and Thirty Six other projects around Lake Wallenpaupack(Lake Ariel, Lakeville, Greentown and Hawley). It's been a sweet season so far with over 110 projects completed.

You can always mix a small batch on site to see if it is strong enough, that is what I did in the past so that I did not make a batch that was too weak.

That's amazing, Hank!
I totally believe you. I think I see 110 roofs in need of cleaning every time I travel :)
So, you were telling me when we met where you get your SH. Can you refresh my memory?

Would it be OK to mix my chemicals the night before the job or is that going to reduce the strength of the sh? Also I think I might bump up to 16 gal of sh.

Wade stick with your original strength, and then add to it if you need to. I always spray a test spot on a dirty area before I even get on a roof to make sure it is cleaning the way I want to. Just saves a lot of time and mix if isn't strong enough.

We mix everything on site to eliminate "buggy lugging" additional weight on the truck as we travel to the worksite. Our mix is predicated on the pitch of the roof, moss, lichen and even the color of the shingle. Many of the roofs we service are covered with moss so we will mix a stronger blend, which also applies to light color shingles.

Dan,

Try Univar or Buckmans. We are using approximately 350 gallons a month of SH. We store it at our shop.

We do all our mixing on site, Test a small area and let dwell for about 10-15 minutes. Up your mix if the cleaning is not coming out to your liking.

What are you guys paying for your SH up north?

OK here are some before pictures

$11 for 4 gallons! yikes! I go through a wholesale business distributor and get it for a $1.10 gallon. Would only cost me almost $5 for 4 gallons after taxes. You should look into that in your area and see if you can save some some money

Roof looks good though, couple touch up spots and your good to go

How much do you use in a month? (I understand 1 month is generally the shelf life for ultimate potency of 12%)
