about a year ago I was doing a detail on a blm fire truck. There foam setup tapped into the exhaust on the pump motor for pressurized air. Has anybody seen or tried this on a pressure washer?

Never heard of that but if it worked then maybe it is repeatable.

How big was that motor?

That is a CAFS system (Compressed Air Foam System) and uses Type 1 (dry) to type 5(wet) foam that is a synthetic AFF foam for fire fighting. they use a roatary air pump in line with the water supply to mix the foam and water to make the foam.

this one was using the exaughst for the air supply

Sounds like something they cooked up on their own. If you can find the picture send it to me. I can probably figure it out if I saw the pic. I would be concerned using the exhaust. If the engine lets any fuel or oil by you will be adding to your work load. I had a friend that used to fill his inflatable raft by putting a fitting in one of his spark plug slots on his old Ford truck. Not relevant just funny. I know carpet cleaners often use the exhaust from their trucks to heat their water so its definitely possible. I would be a little concerned the with the hot air. Make sure the pump you use can handle the heat...
