For a single house wash how far will you go?

We are in an area that we need to drive 15 to 20 miles to reach large upscal communities. If we are trying to expand to other areas we will dive 35 miles and try to get more work for the future. Then we want to try to get enough work to go to the area for a full day.

going the distance

We rarely wash a house for much less then $350. Even at that price we will travel 25 miles without adding to the price. Most of the time our customers understand and are willing to pay more for a reputable company known for quality work.

We always try to bring in more customers from the neighborhood if the distance is far enough. Might as well make a day of it.

There are so many pressure washers in NC, it's just not worth driving beyond 30 minutes. Referrals to others closer to the job has paid off well for us.

This is a Good Question. With gas prices going above $3.00+ (and looks to be going higher) does it make sense to go out and do a single House Wash? Sure if it's a few miles away, then you're making a profit, but 15-20 miles away, now you're talking 30-40 mile round trip. Are you making better profit? No!

You've got to think about "Profit Margins" ALWAYS!

I'll drive to do work. Did two houses side by side last year that were an hour away. At 16 miles per gallon the gas cost less than $20. These were referrals and I probably would have gone even for one house. If my margin on an average house wash is only $20 there's a problem. Everyone's situation is different. You have to decide what works for you.

Will travel 30 minutes for a normal house wash $250 and up, 60 minutes for 2 same rate.

We also have a $125.00 minimum but we have standard pricing for all house washing in Phoenix. Our typical house washes in Phoenix don't take very long because we are only removing dirt, debris, and bird waste. But it does take some clever maneuvering around rocks and cactus. We drive 50 miles easy to and from properties.
Knock on some doors around the neighborhood after your done and offer them discounts because your on their side of town. You can pick up a couple hundred extra dollars in a couple more hours, make it worth the drive.

With all the traffic and red lights around here it takes me an hr to get just about anywhere. :banghead:

The farthest that I used to go was about an hour out of town. We used to go at least once a week sometimes twice but mainly on Saturdays. It was for a very large manufactured home community. On an average run over there we used to Clean anywhere from 5-7 Homes each time we went. Ahhhh, the good ole days.
