I have a ceramic barrel tile roof that has a galvanized metal drip edge. The metal has black streaks from where the water has drained off the roof. The metal is galvanized. Do you have and suggestions on how to get this clean?

thanks,
Andrew

Anything you would use to remove the black streaks would be either an acid or a caustic. They would burn the zinc in the galvanization and turn it more black. Are you sure this is bare galvanized or is it painted? If it is painted you can clean it. Are the streaks organic dirt or mildew or are they oxidation from the flashing?

Its bare, no paint. Ive tried pressure and a spot test with degreaser and it didn't budge. Not sure if it organic or oxidation, but it has a "streak" like pattern. See the photo. Some people on the web mention a mixture of milk and baby powder, but I haven't tried that yet. Thanks for your help.
