Garden Hose Reels

Where is a good place to get good garden hose reels? I have about 600 feet of 3/4" hose. I currently am using the cheap plastic ones but I want a good metal one I can mount. I only need a reel that will hold 300 feet of that hose.

Steve,

Here's a reel that I have seen at Harbor Freight Stores.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=42156

It holds 250' of 3/4" hose.
Not a bad deal for $ 59.99 with free shipping.

How many plastic hose reels does it take to store 600'?. I know that you use the same reels as the ones that are for high pressure for garden hoses but you would need one that would hold over 1000' of 3/8" of high pressure to hold 600' of 3/4". May be you could use a reel off of a "Fire Truck" LOL. :D

I use two regular hose reels. Each holds 150 feet. The other 300 feet are in the back of my truck. I would like to find one reel that would hold at least 300 feet of 3/4"hose. I think I may have to build my own. I seen one on another board a guy had in his trailer and it looked like it could hold a lot of hose.

if i needed that much garden hose i think i would go with that flat hose.
It would cost more in the beginning but you prob. wont need to buy a new hose reel.
Do a search there are people here that use this stuff.
very compact.

I am on construction sites a lot and that is the need for so much hose sometime. The last job I did took 750' of hose to reach where I was working. That was the most extreme case I have had. A lot of times I get there and the don't have the water to the place turned on yet so I have to run off of a fire hydrant.

just wondering do you have a water meter with a anti-backflush built into it? Or are you just stealing water?
In NJ if you touch a fire hydrent without a cop standing there at ALL times it is a $10,000 fine.
After 9/11 they were worried about terrorest's back flushing chems into the water supply.
I am going down to the water co soon to see if i can now rent a meter. I bet i cant.

All the construction sites I am on have permits to use the water. That is where they get their water from. I like filling my tanks at those sites because I can get close to 40 gpm. Sometimes it is hard to hold onto the hose. Out of my 3/4" hose it will shoot water about 20 feet in the air.

The flat hose would take up less space but think about how long it would take to roll up 250' of flat hose. Your back might be hurting till your done.

I like the idea of the flat hose. I would probably order 300' of it. It has to be better then rolling up 300' of stiff 3/4" hose. The cheap hose reels I have them on now break because it strips the handle out trying to roll up that much. I put 150' on each reel.

I see all your posts. Why would you buy flat hose?? Suppose want to only use 100 feet of hose and you have all that flat hose wrapped up on that reel. How is water gonna travel through there???

Listen, you want 5/8 hose from Sam's Club. Same thing Delco sells but for about half the price... "isn't that something we've all heard again and again". Then you buy a Hannay hose reel for the size you want.

I sell those. In the unit I have posted for sale, I have taken numerous pictures of them... how can you miss it. I even describe that I have 500 feet on them.

Why don't you just buy my machine and save yourself some breath and time? :)

Email me if you want what you say you want. Besides, I think you know where you can locally buy just what you asked this board for.

HARBOR FREIGHT???? Hope you are kidding. The only thing they sell is japanese junk. GARBAGE FREIGHT is what they are.

If you want good answers on quality equipment, email me and I will help when I can.

I obtained a heavy duty industrial fire hose reel that I store 300" feet of 3/4" hose on. The swivel attachment was broke but it didnt matter to me.

I only use it to store the hose on. We just unroll what we need for the job and uncouple it. Just make sure you leave the female fitting out. Also use a rag to wipe the hose when winding back on to reel.

Someone on the boards does fire equipment work also. They may be a source for this type of reel.

Also I would only use 3/4" hose. This will keep you out of trouble on long runs.
