Gas Station

They take anywhere from about 4 min to about an hour and a half for a 10 pump station. I do them in the day time as the owner requires it.

4 min? I need to learn how to do that...:neo:

We use to do alot of Racetrack's and if we did all the concrete and the whole place is concrete, it would take us 6hr's. 2 hrs if we just did the pad's and store front, I am sure that was a misprint he probably meant 40min which is still pretty quick unless it is just 2 lanes.

Ours are done from the canopy to the storefront including storefront parking if its there as well as gum removal in all areas cleaned. Here is one thats done on 90 day

likewise Nick, some here take as long as 3.5 hrs but others in their chain take about 1hr

I have not done a gas station, but thinking about a relative sized 10 pump (five pump islands) and average store front one in my area, I would say 4 hrs one man with 8gpm @ 30"SC and moderate gum, concrete only. (Assumed time)

That sure is still fast, I wonder what resources/manpower Jonathan uses for each and how often.

When we did the our gas stations we were cleaning ten stores a night with four guys running with two trucks runing. Thats starting at 8:eek:opm to 6:eek:o am were those the days forty grand to sixty grand a month comming i wish those days would come back. Nick knows what im talking about.

I remember those days too Lonnie, where have they gone:unsure:

I know where there not!! Things have changed drasticly over the last few years, It takes alot more leg work to get accounts these days.

At 4 minutes a pc, that is mad money. I intended to put "45" that is 10 pumps, cleaned monthly, with two people.

Nigel if I am understanding correctly, sidewalks, and fuel pad but not under the canopy I would think that could be done within 1:15hr with 2 guys or roughly 2:30hrs with one man all figures based on 5.5 gpm machine and 24' surface cleaners.

Its really hard to tell how wide that sidewalk is but I would imagine 3-4 passes and you have covered it completely, a bit of wand work and gum and your outta there. The outside pad is nothing, and should be extremely easy to run through

Chris thanks for the response. You misunderstood, all the concrete under the canopy is including in a cleaning, the pad to the left and the sidewalks (4ft wide), walks only directly in front of the fuel station canopy.

The current contractor (15 years experience) says it done twice per year, and it takes him 6 hrs min. with one 5.5gpm and 20" SC with gum which is usually bad. Station is open to traffic, he closes one lane at a time. He says rinsing on asphalt to the curb is a time killer (especially in summer). How far off is your standard rinsing on asphalt?

I have thoughts about running a recovery unit to help eliminate the need for such rinsing because all sediment will be picked up and well only have to pop gum instead of rinsing for hours on end on the large stations. The one pictured has asphalt around the parking lot that I generally try to rinse everything to a specific point in the parking lot working from one side to the other on the concrete in order to have all sediment in one general area when were done cleaning. If there is alot then a handy broom and dust pan takes care of that part and we rinse the wash water out into the asphalt about 15ft or so.

One man, 6hrs is not being doubted at twice a year cleanings. I would be looking for something like 550-650 per cleaning on that particular station your mentioning depending upon gum. Gum adds up on gas stations especially if they are cleaning on 90 day much less 180 day service.
