Chris, this is for when the phone just can't be answered. We don't even own any land lines. All Cell phones. But wet hands, other callers at the moment or with a customer can all keep us from answering 100% of the time.
Here is the post for all here...
First off, the purpose for this is remembering that "Everything is Marketing and Marketing is everything".
I can't always get to the phone. None of us can answer 100% of the time. What can you do to better the odds that you can get a message left or that they might call back? I use the voice mail greeting to stand out from the "Other Guy". This can help you to be remembered even after they have called another contractor. They are compelled to call back or seek further info about you.
You could have a message there that says... "Hello, you've reached XYZ Comany. Did you know that we offer an earlybird special for scheduling before April first? Please leave a message so that we can contact you with all the details of our early bird special."
See how that is different than the normal. It gives areason to leave contact info and they might even call you back after talking with a competitor to find out more about the offer.
You can use the greeting to announce specials and other tidbits of info that make your business different from the others.
"Hello,..... Did you know we are the areas ONLY BBB Member?......"
"Hello,....... For your convienence, we have an online form that you can fill out to request a hassle free estimate......... "
Etc.....
Mine reads like this.....
"Hello, you've reached First Choice Power Washing. Did you know that firstchoicepowerwashing dot com is Google's number one result when searching for Pressure washing in Lexington KY? Log on today for a FREE report on the top 10 questions to ask before hiring a Pressure washing contractor. Please leave a message and we will respond in a timely manner."
