Greetings. I finally registered and wanted to say hi after “lurking” here for a few months.
I am in the process of starting a mobile pressure washing service in South Florida. Hopefully by the end of the month I will be worrying with getting advertising and selling jobs instead of waiting for my occupational license and Inc. paperwork coming back.
I’ve learned quite a bit while lurking here, and hopefully over the next few months as I’m getting started up, I wont drive anyone crazy with off the wall questions I cant find searching the web or my ref. Books.

welcom aboard

What is it your going to be washing and what type of rig and equipment are you starting out with?

I'm going to focus on flatwork, at least while I'm getting started up. I have contacts in a number of resturaunts here in south florida( I spent the last 8 years in the hospatality biz) and I'm farily confident I can market my services to the people I know.
In addition to the resturaunts, I plan on heavily marketing the local residential maket. Docks, decks, driveways, etc.
As I gain experience I would like to branch out. Thats the great thing about pressure washing, the sky is pretty much the limit in regards to what can be cleaned(at least IMHO).
Equipment I bought used, I have a 4000psi 4 gpm cold water washer ( honda 13 hp/ AR pump) and a 18inch whirlaway surface cleaner.
My first plan was to concentrate on pool service, but as I did more reasearch I decided that pressure washing was a more lucrative way to go.
Anyone want to buy a pool vac:)?

my opinion would be to get some customers
save your money and get a bigger GPM unit with HEAT.[FLATWORK]. to compete in flatwork you need bigger equipment. Large tank also.
In the beginning having 2 trades is not a bad idea.
good luck and learn all you can.

Sal, I have the same set-up. I can tell you, if you want to do restaurants, you will need hot water...even if you use chem (which I would not). There is grease from inside the restaurant as well as grease from the parking lot. You can do what I did, buy a hot water machine - aka Hot Shot. If your Whirl-a-Way has wheels, you'll want to have a spare or two. They run about $13. Keep all the fittings greased, or you'll need those wheels sooner, rather than later. ( I speak from experience.)

hot water

John, A hot water washer is first on my list of things to upgrade to as soon as the bussness has the cash available. As for the chems I am going to try to use them as little as possible. Where I am (Broward county Florida) hot or cold water has no recovery requirment, it is concidered the same as a rain event. As soon as you add one granule or drop of ANY cleaning agent you are required to reclaim the water. So for the time being ESG is a "water only" service.
Beth, I always planed on comming out & posting- I just wanted to get a handle on things first so I would not sound like a complete idjiot when I did start posting :)
