There is a highway being build near my house and an outfit here has what seems to be miles of equipment.. I am thinking 75 bucks per man hour and letting the employees earn a paycheck on this nasty stuff... this sound too hi?

Do they want it cleaned? Is it being cleaned already? The type and size of equipment is important to know, what kind of chems will you use, will you be using heat? All these factors come into play when trying to figure out a fair price that will be profitable.

Have they contacted you, some companies might not be interested in an hourly rate, I know I would not be. Most likely a per piece price is what they will be looking for.

Good Luck.

its big equipment.. i do have 2 hot water machines i will use. I also use my own degreaser as a finish up product after the mud is off. I hate giving hourly rates. I just dont wanna screw myself with a lowball price. They told us they were thinking about the service but had no idea if they could afford something like that.

Typically, for this type of work, it is hourly work, and, though, $75 an hour is low in many peoples opinions, you can make money on it, because, odds are, if you get the gig, it will be consistent work for the length of the project.

Right now I am making more per hour washing fleet but I want to expand to other types of washing and really have no idea of what to charge.

Dustin

I know a fella around here who will wash a skidder for a hundred bucks....

Better yet he bragged about it only taking 5 hours or so...

When he told me that I about fell out on the floor. Maybe you could sub some of it to him! lol

They have their own washers dont they? Seems like I saw one on one of their trucks somewheres?

Dont you think youd be better off pricing per piece. Shouldnt save them money bc you work hard and fast.

ya i quoted them at 75 to 100 per unit depending on how bad it is. they had an unending supply of equipment around there.

this isnt work ill be doin.. its work ill be payin people to do for me. nasty nasty job

Might require reclamation.

I have done 100's of pieces of heavy equipment. If it is a large heavy construction company, chances are they have there own pressure washing set-up.

We offer 3 levels of heavy equipment cleaning, from a simple wash to a auction ready or repaint ready detail.

I still do work for a major heavy highway contractor here in the valley, even though they have their own pressure washer. AZ DOT requires the equipment to be Class II free when the equipment is moved in and out.

I guess the best place to start in go meet with the shop foremen or supervisor.

ok will do ... thanks.

I use a reclaim system .. Just dont know how to price it if I have to use that stuff too.. How much more do you add on for reclaim? reclaim makes a job twice as hard.

Check with the maint people on the job, you may be able to "et in the door"doing the radiators. A small oil leak with the amount of dust in a construction site will clog them up fast. Regular maint on them is a great option to present them.
