Honda GX160 5.5 HP - hard starting

I've been having a problem starting a 5.5 hp Honda. This motor, mounted on an Ingersol-Rand wheelbarrow style air compressor is almost 1 year old, and has been hard to start since new, especially when it's cold. All our gas engines are treated with Ethanol/Stabil, and at the end of the season, drained and run dry, so there's no residue build-up in the carb, and new spark plugs every year. I've taken the carb off of this motor and cleaned the carb (was fine) and still have problems starting. This particular model motor has the "low oil alert" option, and have read that this has caused some starting problems, even though oil level is correct. I'm thinking of disconnecting the oil alert to see if it makes a difference. We have two of these compressors, and both react exactly the same - hard to start. Anyone have any experience with this particular model motor?

Those little Hondas should start first or second pull. You could try and disconnect the low oil sensor. It's the yellow wire coming out of the side of the block.
