Anyone have any pro or con towards hosty. I looking at 4-5gpm around 3000-3500 psi. There is a dealer about 30 minutes from the house where I could get the customes support I need for such things as repairs etc. I'm looking to do more concrete cleaning. Jon from oasis pressure cleaning thanks for your help and input

We have done business with Great Lakes in Lansing. They are good people. Several times they have talked us through a problem that we have had with our 5800 Series Hotsy (very old unit).

Their machines are good when working but you can only get the parts for their pumps from Hotsy. If you are not happy with their service good luck. If you buy a machine with a General Pump, Cat Pump, AR Pump, you will be better off. Those parts are available to everyone. Sometimes even rental yards have the parts for those. I would not buy a Hotsy myself!

I have one somewhere.

The pumps on the Hotsy's are very proprietary. There are good and bad things about them. I have a model 1204 that I paid $800 for. It was a great deal, but, I cannot keep it running. It has a hard time sucking fuel. The previous owner even put an electric pump on it, so he was having problems, too. I attribute to a bad design.

We ran a hotsy for quite a while. Great machine for us. It was a 1260 I believe. The packings from a general pump fit the hotsy pump.

Well now I have a different opinion than I use to I work at a Hotsy Dealer.
I like them now.

I have had a Hotsy 5.6gpm 3000psi hot water skid and it has been great except for the relay problem that started about 2 or 3 years ago.

You need to use the 24volt relays, not the relays from the auto parts stores which are 12 volt.

Other than that, it is a great machine. I am very happy with it, it is very dependable.

Pressure Pro 8gpm 3500 cheaper and just as good.....call bob at Pressure Tek

I was not impressed with their specs of the boiler. Anyone I new had long term problems with their boiler as well. Of course this info is 18 years old.

Hopefully they corrected their problems.

Check these items that some manufactures tend to skimp on.

1. Check the BTU's and the Beckett items in the boiler assembly. Compare those items to other manufactures.

2. Check fittings, as well as, the ease of repairs, meaning access to key parts of the unit.

SS fittings are the best.

Zinc Forged is the next best for strength

Zinc Plated is good but will not last as long as forged.

Brass will never rust of course but has a lower PSI rating. Depending on the thickness will determine the PSI

3. Check the hoses.. R2 hose is better than R1 in most cases. R2 hoses also cost more, but tend to last longer under abuse.

OK guys, Thats My 2 cents !

I am glad that some of you have used my slang. "Thats my 2 cents" You do know that every time you use "Thats my 2 cents " you need to donate $1 to your favorite charity. LOL LOL LOL

I was about to say that about ya John but ya beat me to it. Must be a good service dept type of thing or that they changed their machines to use other pumps, etc...Was at yer shop the other day and missed ya once again. Sorry to say I had to leave though as George wasn't in and the other guy was gonna have to charge me like $130 to make up two 5' jumper hoses when down the street was $65. Damn them lowballers eh?..:)

What changed my mind is the stationary machines. The wiring is way better than any other manufacture. And adding an auto shutdown timer is a breeze. Plug and play. Remove a jumper plug in the timer screw in a ground and a screw and ready to go.
Also the pumps are more stout than the others inside.
The frames are stout too. Their Warranty Policy is great and Tech support is too.
